Om Shanti Om - Jio Bollywood!
If you were to make a Bollywood film today, there would of course be no getting away from trailors for you. You’d need to make sure that the scenes and songs you choose to include in your promotional trailors reflect the spirit and theme of your movie and are able to draw your target audience to theatres and multiplexes. And if you were Farah Khan, you’d know by now that you’ve pulled off a maha Bollywood coup!

The title track from OSO revels in Bollywood and celebrates its spirit. Song, dance, colour, designer costumes, vintage actors, sculpted bodies and wannabe divas all come together in this magnum opus called Om Shanti Om.
I wonder how Farah managed to do it. Rumour has it that she approached veterans like Dev Anand and Amitabh Bachchan for a quick appearance in the same song, but was politely, albeit firmly refused. Reason being? Dev Saab apparently said, “Thanks but no thanks. I only act in my own movies and don’t believe in cameos.” Whereas with the Big B, probably even Farah’s charms failed to work when it came to shaking a leg with Shah Rukh Khan. Tch tch. When will our Bollywood heroes learn to let bygones be bygones?
Coming back to the Bollywood fiesta number, OSO’s title tracks more than matches audience expectations. From the sultry Rekha to yesteryear’s jumping jack Jeetendra, almost everyone from the who’s who list of Bollywood matches steps with Shah Rukh Khan a.k.a OK. Preity looks somewhat lost in her little red number whereas Salman Khan elicits the maximum number of whistles and catcalls (I am a culprit too!) without taking his shirt off. Tabu’s her usual elegant self and Urmila simply oozes sensuality in her ultra-sexy limegreen outfit.
Let’s not forget Dharam paaji please. Or Govinda’s ten second desi jig with SRK. And all the girls in the audience just could not get enough of Salman, Saif, Sanjay and Shah Rukh doing a hot jig on the bar top!
In short, the perfect masala mix for the perfect Bollywood party. OSO’s title track had me hooting and wanting to shake a leg, just like auntie ji on my right and the hot twenty-something dude on my left. So now, what’s your excuse to not go watch the movie?
