Om Shanti Om review : A celebration called Bollywood.
I am just back from watching Om Shanti Om and one word summarizes the movie : Bollywood. If you love Bollywood, you will love this movie. Farah Khan and Shahrukh Khan delivered a total paisa (or should I say dollar) vasool movie.

Some movies are worth $2 for us, the once we should rent DVDs of. Some are worth just 50 cents, maybe the price of the bandwidth and power and effort we spend on downloading them
And some are worth more than $10, worth watching it at the theater. And Om Shanti Om is surely one such movie.
Like every Shahrukh Khan movie, I watched this the first day and this one surely did not disappoint. No over acting, no extra emotion and definitely no flying leaves as SRK hams “pyar to pyar hota hain” dialogues. In the first half you see the Bollywood of the 70s where Om Prakash, the junior artist tries to woo the star actress Shantipriya. It had two kinds of scenes. Ones that make you laugh and the second just filmy. The filmy ones are like any other Bollywood movie but this time, they have much more significance which you realize as Farah Khan ties the loose ends in the second half.
The music is good and the picturisation is interesting. Deepika Padukone is full of grace and poise. Arjun Rampal is brilliant in his villainous role. Shreyas Talpade does much better than expected and Kiran Kher is expectedly good. So if you have a theater nearby showing Om Shanti Om, go ahead and watch it. If you believe movies are meant to entertain, this is the kind of movie which is pure Bollywood. And yes, no matter who are in your top 3 Bollywood stars, you will definitely find one of them in the movie. From Hrithik to Abhishek to Salman, all show up in this Bollywood fest.
