Guru: A Review
For those who regard cinema is mere than more fun, than Mani Ratnam’s Guru is a must watch. After much favourable media-hype, finally the Ratnam touch seems to captivate the audience as the film has hit the silver screen. Cine-lovers will have the opportunity to view the magical pair of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan in Guru. This much talked about pair has featured earlier in three other films.

The songs of Guru scored by none other than A.R. Rahman have already captivated the people in its magical melody. The songs like ‘Tere Bin’, ‘Barso Re’, ‘Ae Hairathe Zindagi’, ‘Jaage Hain’ and ‘Ek lo ek muft’ are in the lips of the nation. Mallika Sherawat’s item song ‘Maiyya Maiyya’ is also an added attraction. Rajeev Menon’s camerawork and the choreography are just excellent.
Apart from Ash and Junior Bachchan, others who have added credibility to Guru are Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan and South Indian superstar Madhavan. The film is also said to have some links with industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani. The plot of the film is said to have been inspired from the life of this founder of Reliance Industries. Abhishek could be seen to depict a positive body language in his acting and Ash was as usual in her superlative touch.
The master film maker Mani Ratnam was hopeful that Guru would be able to captivate the hearts of the viewers. He was all in praises of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. “I am very happy about his work. I think he is growing remarkably as an actorâ€, was what Mani commented on Abhishek. As regards Ash, he said, “She has done the role with a lot of dignity and poise. She remained very close to the character and has done it with easeâ€.
