Angelina Jolie sympathetic towards Madonna

Angelina Jolie has now attempted to actually downplay her earlier comments she had made to a French magazine regarding pop singer Madonna’s controversial adoption. This Hollywood actress who had herself adopted two children from Cambodia and Ethiopia claimed that her version of the conversation was misrepresented.

“I said many positive things that were omitted,” Jolie said. “I feel we must focus on the present and I encourage everyone to be supportive so that every child can adjust nicely to their new home.”

Madonna and her filmmaker husband Guy Ritchie have adopted a one-year-old Malawian boy, David Banda. He joined her two children, Lourdes and Rocco, in Britain in October.

Madonna has always remained a target when it comes to adoption and human rights groups. But she has certainly received positive reports from the Malawaian child welfare officer assigned to her adoption of the 1-year-old David Banda.

Human rights groups in Malawi have said they are concerned the government cut legal corners to fast-track the adoption and that they want adoption laws there clarified. A November court ruling allowed a coalition of rights groups to monitor the process.

Jolie who has always been in the news due to her relationship with Brad Pitt was sympathetic towards Madonna and wished her new child the best possible future, People said.

“I have been horrified by the attacks she’s been subjected to,” Jolie said. “All that should count is the happiness of her little David.”

“Madonna knew the situation in Malawi, where he was born,” Jolie was quoted as saying in this week’s edition of Gala, a gossip magazine. “In that country, there isn’t really a legal framework for adopting. Personally, I prefer to stay on the side of the law.”
