Bollywood box office report Dec 2006 - Jan 2007

‘Bhagam Bhag’ was hyped beyond imagination for the last one month. In fact an aggressive promotional drive continues even in its first week. Hence it was always a given fact that the film would open quite well.

Priyadarshan’s ‘Bhagam Bhag’ opened to fabulous responses and the collections increased in next two days but it dropped sharply from Monday onwards.

However the laugh riot is doing extremely well in Delhi and Utter Pradesh. Overall this Akshay Kumar-Govinda-Paresh Rawal starrer managed to get reasonable collections in its first week and with not so strong opposition in coming weeks, it’s expected to give back some more amount to its producers.
Yash Raj’s ‘Kabul Express’ continued to do well in multiplexes, however in small centers it’s collections dropped drastically. However it got high critical acclaims.

Sohail Khan-Sneha Ullal starrer film ‘Aryan’ bit the dust.
In its third week, ‘Baabul’ registered a huge drop in collections. Despite a huge starcast, it could not live up to the expectations, which surprised many.
Yash Raj’s latest release ‘Dhoom 2′ is really doing very well, even in its fifth week the collections going steady strong.

Especially in multiplexes in Mumbai, the stylish action thriller is going strong.
Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao starrer ‘Vivah’ is also doing unexpectedly well at the box office. Last week, the collections though registered a slight drop but it’s ignorable.

Subhash Ghai’s ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’ , though it’s a short-budget film, starring not-so big stars, it clicked at the box office. As per ‘Don’ is concerned, it’s collections in last week littled downed. Same thing happened to Salman-Priyanka starrer ‘Jaanemann’ also. But overall these two films’ box office performance is not bad. However ‘Don’ is doing better than ‘Jaanemann’ both in country and in abroad.

‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ is still rocking in India and abroad as well.
After ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, it’s another sequel, which hit the bull’s eyes.
As per this week is concerned, Arjun Rampal’s first home production ‘I See You’ released. ‘Anwar’ too was scheduled to release, however it’s postponed at the last time.

So this week, the list of top-5 films includes ‘Vivah’, ‘Kabul Express ‘, ‘Baabul’, ‘Bhagam Bhag’ , and of course ‘Dhoom 2′ according to the responses, they have received so far. But the serial is given below. You watch it as follows. Keep on tuning.

Movie No. 5 : Baabul - Collections dropped drastically.
