Top Six Celebrity Break Ups of 2006

Things have not been working all that well for some of the most envied celebrity couples in Hollywood. Relationships have soured and people have moved on. Here are the Top six celebrity break ups of 2006.

1. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, after seven years of marriage and having two kids together, daughter Ava 7, and son Deacon 3 finally called it quits. Apparently their relationship had been in trouble although they had denied the gossip. But in October 2006 they agreed to end the relationship. Could it have been because of Ryan’s eagerness to ‘befriend’ co-star Abbie Cornish?

2. Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

This was not a very pleasant affair - the breaking up I mean. Media speculates that Heather could get a huge chunk of the .5 billion empire. Heather, 38, had been called a gold-digger and the media have been digging up her past. Anyway things didn’t go right for them and they separated in May 2006. This is one media scandal that Sir Paul McCartney, 63, could have done without.

3. Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson

After six year of marriage and a 2-year-old son, Ryder Russell Robinson, the actress Kate Hudson, 27 and rocker Chris Robinson separated in August 2006. The reason? Owen Wilson and Kate seem to have got a little to cosy while filming for ‘You, Me and Dupree’ - although they vehemently denied all rumors. But there were photographs which proved otherwise.

4. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline

For them it was ‘irreconcilable differences’. But that was Britney Spear’s very polite way of saying that her husband - who had basked in her glory and did not really do much to provide for her and her kids and could not cut down on his drinking or smoking and could not curb his wandering eye - was not and is not likely to be either good husband or father material.

5. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock

Their marriage lasted for just four months. It was another case of ‘Irreconcilable differences’ and in this case both Pamela and Kid Rock (Robert Richie) filed their own divorce petitions. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock had a wedding ceremony Saturday on a yacht in Saint-Tropez. Ironically their wedding had been described as “The best most romantic wedding of all time.” Well! The cookie crumbles!

6. Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe

This couple did try to work on their 8 year marriage. May be they did not work hard enough. They filed for divorce in January. Rumor has it that the split could have been because Hilary’s career was on the up and up, while the same could not be said with Chad’s. Amazingly when an interviewer at the Golden Globes referred to Hilary as ’single’, she did not take too kindly to it - and went on to say that she and Chad were working on their 8 year marriage.
