Bollywood: ShahRukh Khan calls himself the King Khan

Bollywood’s uncrowned king ShahRukh Khan is beaming with confidence and he is quite sure of ruling the roost in the Indian Celluloid for several years to come if Media reports are to be believed.
ShahRukh Khan reportedly told the Mumbai-based DNA newspaper in an interview there is not any chance of him being overthrown from the throne.

He was quoted as saying, “This is King Khan. I’m the Ronaldinho of acting. I’ll be there for another five to six years then maybe you can think of some other actor.'’
He further added, “No newcomer is around to oust me,'’ said Khan. “It’s terrific. I’m respected, recognized … Many magazines call me the icon of the country. The fact is I’m blessed, it has been a charmed life.'’

But was it always that rosy for the actor? Unlike most of Indian megastars ShahRukh Khan first appeared in some television series before he went on to try his luck in the film industry.
Almost everyone remembers seeing ShahRukh Khan first in the role of ‘Abhimanyu’ in ‘Fauji’ in 1988 and in ‘Circus’ with Renuka Sahane later in 1989. He made his debut appearance in 1992 in ‘Deewana’ with the late actress Divya Bharti and that was a big hit.

With films like ‘Chamatkar’, ‘Dil Ashna Hai’, the directorial debut of the yesteryear film actress Hema Malini ShahRukh Khan kept the Indian viewers aware of his presence in the industry.
In 1993 he enthralled the viewers with two successive negative roles in ‘Baazigar’ and ‘Darr’. But the year 1995 was a turning point in ShahRukh Khan’s life. He appeared in the blockbuster movie ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ and after that there was no looking back for King Khan.

After that ShahRukh Khan established himself as the unchallenged romantic hero, a position that he enjoys till date, with flicks like ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, ‘Dil Se’, ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Veer-Zaara’etc.
But ShahRukh Khan proved his versatility by playing different kind of roles in ‘Swades’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, and ‘Paheli’.

ShahRukh won millions of hearts with his roles and the Indian viewers hold him in great awe, so much so that he is regularly rated as the country’s top actor in polls by movie media.
Well, it’s a success well deserved and it sure isn’t time for modesty for King Khan and that’s quite evident in his statement.
