Mark Ramprakash wins “Strictly come dancing ” with Karen Hardy

The two celebrities Sports stars Ramprakash, 37, and Dawson, 34, performed a total five dances including ballroom and Latin routines, a freestyle dance and a group Viennese Waltz. Cricketer Mark Ramprakash has been named winner of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. Mark and his partner Karen Hardy triumphed over rugby player Matt Dawson and dance professional Lilia Kopylova after a massive public vote.

Former rugby star Matt Dawson and cricketer Mark Ramprakash waltzed it out for the Strictly Come Dancing crown. Bookies had made Ramprakash favourite to win the hit BBC1 show, hosted by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly.

It is the second time two sportsmen were in the final, which was expected to attract more than 10 million viewers, after Darren Gough and Colin Jackson went head-to-head last year. For their favourite dances, ex-England cricketer Ramprakash had selected the Tango and the Salsa and former rugby international Dawson had opted for the Waltz and the Samba. All the Strictly Come Dancing couples from the series also returned to perform once again. Both finalists had knocked the likes of former Spice Girl Emma Bunton and EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton out of the show.

Ramprakash’s position as the favourite has not been dented despite the fact that he recently admitted having an affair behind his wife’s back. Forsyth said: “I am always amazed at the standard of the dancers throughout all of the series but somehow this year has been exceptional.”

Amidst emotional scenes, Mark was congratulated by his wife and two daughters after he and Karen were crowned champions after a mammoth 12 week series.Matt genreously commented, “Let’s be honest, there was only ever one winner.”
