Anil Kumble is trying his luck in Bollywood
Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble is following footsteps of Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Vinod Kambli and Ajay Jadeja. He is going to perform a ‘ cameo ‘ with Mandira Bedi starrer ‘Mirabai - Not Out’. Director of Anthony Kaun Hai, Raj Kaushal,who is Mandira’s husband, will be the line producer.
Cricketers turning to acting in films is not new. In the past Syed Kirmani, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Vinod Kambli, Ajay Jadeja and Navjot Sidhu have made appearances in movies, some of them even playing significant roles.
And now it’s Anil Kumble waiting for his ‘break’ in Bollywood.In the movie, ‘Mirabai – Not Out’ , Kumble will play himself. He will appear in a scene with Mandira Bedi, who plays a cricket fan. ‘Mirabai – Not Out’ will mark the acting debut of Ejaz Khan. The film will also have Anupam Kher and Mahesh Manjrekar playing huge cricket enthusiasts.
The film is produced by Pritish Nandy’s company, and will go on the work by December end. The makers of the movie are aiming to release it just before the world cup next year.
In the recent past, Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja (Khel) and Vinod Kambli (Anarth) have tried their hand at acting. Let us hope Kumble can gets under the skin of his character.
