Video : Sreesanth fined for his dance

The Indian paceman Sreesanth won the Man of the Match award for his 8 wickets for 99. He took the lion’s share in the first historical Test victory against South Africa at Johannesburg, and also entertained us by his antic break dance.

While Sreesanth was batting and defended a ball from Nel, Nel came ahead and sledged Sreesanth. Next ball, the tailender went ahead and hit Nel out of the ground for a six. And after that started the funniest dance one has seen in the recent past. Check out the video :

Indian bowler S. Sreesanth has been fined a total of 30 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct, to have acted contrary to the spirit of the game and under the clause 1.1 of the Code, which concerns the ICC Logo Policy. After dismissing Hashim Amla in South Africa’s second innings, he ran towards the batsman and clapped, laughing at him mockingly.

Contrary to ICC Logo Policy, Sreesanth wore a black garment under his shirt while batting and then later in the day, after this had been pointed out, although he took to the field in a white garment under his playing shirt, it displayed a commercial logo.

Sreesanth was docked 20 percent of his match fee for unsportsmanlike conduct after he ran towards Hashim Amla having dismissed the batsman in South Africa’s second innings.The Indian paceman was fined a further 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the International Cricket Council’s logo policy.

“We do not want robots out there but we do want players to control their emotions once they get on to the field because they have to realise they are role models for all those watching,” said ICC match referee Roshan Mahanama in a statement. Mahanama also said, “The fact that Sreesanth breached the policy not once but twice showed a lack of respect and although he once again pleaded guilty it was still appropriate that he was fined for his actions.”

The incident occurred during the third day’s play on Sunday when South Africa were struggling to save the Test. South Africa, who were reduced to 34-2, were in further trouble when Amla edged an away-going Sreesanth delivery to wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Indian captain Rahul Dravid and team manager Chetan Desai also attended the hearing.
