Angelina Jolie fell hard for Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie fell hard for Brad Pitt on the set of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” — but didn’t chase Hollywood’s leading hunk because he was married to his “best friend,” the smoldering actress said in a jaw-dropping magazine interview.

For the first time, Angelina Jolie opens up in the January issue of Vogue and comes clean about what happened between her and Brad Pitt on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith when he was still married to Jennifer Aniston, according to the New York Post.

Pitt, 42, has said he and Jolie would not wed until “everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able.” And Jolie, 31, agrees that tying the knot is not a priority.

“We both have been married before, so it’s not marriage that’s necessarily kept some people together,” she said. “We are legally bound to our children, not to each other, and I think that’s the most important thing.”Jolie said when she first met her costar on the set of the thriller in 2003, they weren’t looking for a relationship. But she admited that
was where they started to fall in love.

“Brad was a huge surprise to me. I, like most people, had a very distant impression of him from … the media,” she said.
“I think a few months in I realized, God, I can’t wait to get to work,” she said. “Whether it was shooting a scene or arguing about a scene or gun practice or dance class or doing stunts — anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork.”

The two remained “very, very good friends” from the time the movie wrapped in 2004 until after Pitt and Aniston announced their separation in January 2005, Jolie said. Madddox, now 5, the son she adopted during her marriage to Billy
Bob Thornton, was crucial in her decision to be with Pitt. One day, Maddox “just out of the blue called him Dad,” said Jolie.
“It was amazing. We were playing with cars on the floor of a hotel room, and we both heard it and didn’t say anything and just looked at each other. So that was probably the most defining moment, when he decided that we would all be a family.”

Angelina Jolie also said she would be willing to meet with Aniston, but “that would be her decision, and I would welcome it.
