Angelina Jolie rides a packed Mumbai train
Mumbai, Nov 13 : Dressed in a lime-green T-shirt and khaki trousers Hollywood star Angelina Jolie caught passengers of a packed commuter train here by surprise Monday as she travelled second class during a visit to the city to shoot for a film on slain American reporter Daniel Pearl.
Jolie, accompanied by co-star Dan Futterman, first stood in the queue at the Charni Road station on Mumbai busy commuter network Monday afternoon and then boarded the second-class compartment that is usually packed to capacity.
Disbelieving and bewildered passengers, who jostled for a closer view of the actor, were however kept at bay by four of her glowering bodyguards.
Commuters, who wanted autographs, were however not allowed to do so.
No reason was given why Jolie boarded the train and where she was going, but speculation was that the activist in her wanted to experience for herself what it meant to travel in such trains that is used by millions of Mumbai’s commuters everyday.
These trains were also the target of terrorists exactly four months when a series of bombs went off at evening peak hour killing at least 187 people and injuring hundreds.
The sultry actor, who plays the wife of Pearl, who was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan in 2002, in the film “A Mighty Heart”, has been filming in nearby Pune for almost a month with partner Brad Pitt, who is producing the film.
Futterman plays the reporter Pearl, who spend quite a lot lime in Mumbai before he was kidnapped and subsequently murdered.
