Aamir Khan Violated Wildlife Protection Act
Superstar Aamir Khan is again in the news, and this time it is not the release of his film, but due to summons issued by the Gujarat Forest Department for filming the endangered Chinkara during the shooting of ‘Lagaan’ eight years ago. As such, he has been summoned to appear for questioning on 6th November.

Aamir Khan, the Producer of Lagaan has been accused by the forest department of violating the Wildlife Protection Act. Officials said that, ‘Aamir and his team did not take permission from the forest department for filming the endangered animal and thus violated the act.’ Chinkara being endangered is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act.
Though the animal was not hurt during the shooting of Lagaan, yet it stands as an offence for non-seeking prior permission of the forest authorities. However, as per the Act, shooting of such endangered species for documentaries or wildlife film is permissible by law, but using such clips for commercial purpose is a blatant violation of it.
The enquiry was called on the basis of a complaint launched by wildlife group against the production house of Aamir Khan. Hints were also given that some of the officials of the forest department may also have to face the music of law. Well, it seems that the Lagaan fever is not yet ready to leave Aamir aside.
