Anu Malik in controversy about music of Jaan-E-Mann
The music of Jaan-E-Mann has landed its composer Annu Malik into a great controversy, thereby hampering his reputation to a great extent. Controversy occured when a Mumbai based tabloid reported that the music of Jaan-E-Mann was infact scored by G.V. Prakash, the nephew of the talented A.R. Rahman.

If things be proved as stated in the tabloid, then the reputation of Jaan-E-Mann and also that of Anu Malik would be at stake. Surprisingly, quite contrary to the report published, G.V. Prakash clarified that, ‘The tunes are set by Anu Malik, arrangements like the rhythm and flute are by me. Except for the tunes, I did the rest of the music’. Annu Malik is having a tough time in the industry as none of his music this year was able to make it to the blockbuster. It was more a merry-go-round year for Himesh Reshammiya, who delivered around 31 hit tracks in this year.
It was amidst this gloomy backdrop that Anu Malik scored his first hit of the year in Jaan-E-Mann. Naturally, such controversy would annoy Malik, who is also reported to have sent a legal notice to the tabloid seeking their apology for flashing blatant rumours. Malik, it seems has not yet completely dried up as he has also scored music for the much awaited Umrao Jaan of J.P. Dutta. The music of both Jaan-E-Mann and Umrao Jaan is somewhat like a soothing treat for the heart and the soul. It’s probably something like-‘return of the dragon’.
The controversy evoked regarding the music of Jaan-E-Mann, has opened the pandora’s bag for rumour mongers who are heard to air the view that the song ‘Humko maloom hai’ is totally soaked in the style of A.R. Rahman, which is only because his nephew G.V. Prakash has learnt music for four years under his Rahman Uncle. This is probably a indirect hint to mean that Prakash has scored the music. However, the 19 year old music master Prakash was found to be very uncomfortable for unnecessarily dragging him into the controversy.

Anyone can hum a tune. Orchestrating and arranging it is where real competence lies. Before this, all decent soundtracks labeled “Anu Malik” were in fact arranged by Ranjit Barot. Now it’s a new, gullible G.V. Prakash.

Anu Malik has always copied his music - it is just that he used to copy it from music composed in other countries and is feeling the heat now as he has moved to cpying within the country now.
