Review of Salman Khan ’s ‘Jaan-E-Mann’
After a long drawn battle between the two Khans of Bollywood, finally Jaan-E-Mann and Don saw the light of the day on 20th October. The debutant director Shirish Kunder poured his imagination and creative genius to offer the best possible in the Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta starrer Jaan-E-Mann.

The story of the film, whose theme is ‘Are you ready to fall in love…Again…’ runs like this…… The story centres around Suhaan (Salman Khan), Agastya (Akshay Kumar) and Piya (Preity Zinta). Both Suhaan and Agastya love Piya. Piya is depicted as a real paragon of beauty with brains, with whom any guy would prefer to fall in love. After the completion of college life all three move apart in their respective paths. In the meantime, ten years have passed. Though both Suhan and Agastya were doing well in life, but were devoid of love in their life. Piya also didn’t get the prince charming in her life. It was then that all three met, which was of course, coincidence.
However, a casual look at the movie reveals that it often tends to take turn to a typical triangular Bollywood masala film. But it is here the genius of Suresh Kunder has brought magic by atleast trying to diver the theme of the film away from conventional line. Even the story is not an exceptional one with all fresh inputs, but the director has treated the subject in fresh light, which has made the movie somewhat enjoyable. Well, much could not be spoken of the outfit and make-up as both Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar looked somewhat bizarre.
The film is made out of a huge budget of 35 crores. The money spent could be felt if one looks at the bright sets of the film. It’s Salman Khan who is presented as the leading man in the film in contrast to Preity Zinta. However, the part played by Akshay also could not be avoided as unimpressive. The dimple girl Preity was, as usual, in her lovely romantic image. The thing which should have been taken care of is its story, which ha many lacunae like Salman writing letters to Preity via snail mail in this era of technological revolution. This was a mismatch keeping in the view of the other electronic gadgets depicted in the film. Overall, it was a good time to be in the theatre with ‘Jaan-E-Mann’ and on a scale of 5 atleast 3 stars can be given to the film.
