Hair Must Be Axed Before Champions Trophy: Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board is pushing for Darrell Hair’s removal from the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) list of elite umpires before the Champions Trophy in India in October.

“Pakistan has held discussions with some other (ICC) member boards on this issue and are confident that after the Hair demand for money, it would be able to move a motion asking for the Australian’s removal from the elite panel,” a PCB official said.

The controversy climbed so much that Hair now finds himself out of favor in English domestic cricket as well as with the Player’s Association and some sections of the ECB questioning his credibility to stand in County games. On the other hand, Hair found support from his Pakistani colleague Aleem Dar, who has strongly defended the Australian’s charging Inzamam-ul-Haq for ball tempering in the Oval Test last week.
