It is that time of the year again. Its time for the Bollywood bigwigs to fight head to head in the online war to find out who the most popular Bollywood star is.

After the amazing response for the StarWars Most Popular Desi Celebrity last year, the 2006 Most Popular Bollywood Star starts this week. Last year Aishwarya Rai won the most popular contest beating Shahrukh Khan in the finals. “I was sooooo touched …. that I wanted to sincerely thank you personally. As long as I have the love and support from you - the fans I consider myself blessed. You have stood by me from the beginning and for this I will forever be grateful to you all. Be well and God Bless !” was Aishwarya’s response on winning the online contest. The contest comprises of head to head contests between the stars where every week they meet in a knockout popularity poll to advance to the next stage.

This year too (2006) there will be 8 Bollywood actors and 8 Bollywood actresses who will fight it out in the pre-quarter final, quarter final, semi final and the grand final of the competition. So starting this week, fans from all over the world get a chance to nominate their favorite Bollywood actor and actress to the competition. The top 8 of each group will move to the knockout stage where they will be seeded based on the number of votes they get and playing against in reverse seed basis, which means seed1 will play seed8 and so on. In the next rounds, the actors and actresses will be move into a single group where they will fight it out to win the Most Popular Bollywood Star 2006 contest.

So starting this week, the nominations start where all strong contenders to the title have been given a chance to qualify. Among the Bollywood actors nominations involve Shahrukh Khan , Amitabh Bachchan , Hrithik Roshan , Salman Khan , Abhishek Bachchan , Aamir Khan , John Abraham , Sanjay Dutt , Saif Ali Khan , Sunny Deol, Ritesh Deshmukh, Rajpal Yadav, Akshay Kumar,Emran Hashmi, Fardeen Khan and other Bollywood actors. Nominated among the actresses are Aishwarya Rai , Rani Mukherjee , Priyanka Chopra , Preity Zinta ,Mallika Sherawat,Bipasha Basu , Kajol, Amisha Patel , Kareena Kapoor and other Bollywood actresses.
