Provoked is the real life story of a battered Indian woman who went on to become a role model for all victims of domestic violence in Britain. The movie stars Indian beauty Aishwarya Rai & has been previewing in Cannes Film Festival this year.
Provoked has had positive reviews both for it's filming and for Aishwarya's performance, which proved to be sensitive & beyond what was expected of her.

On-off couple Aishwarya Rai -Abhishek Bachchan catch up at the airport
Nobody is quite sure if Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan are seeing each other or not. Recently there were rumours about the two heading for splitsville due to their horoscopes not matching and also due to family discord. However rumours may be put to an end after the couple was spotted spending time with each other at the airport while waiting to board a flight.
Ash walked into the domestic airport and after she checked in, Abhi, who was already waiting for her, joined her. It was six in the morning, but both the stars looked as fresh as ever. Both Ash and Abhi were also colour coordinated sporting white shirt and blue jeans. Both were seen boarding the same flight. Ash and Abhi were recently in Mumbai for a break and both were heading back to resume shooting for their film. Ash and Abhi are busy shooting for Mani Ratnam?s Guru and they will also be seen in Dhoom 2 and Umrao Jaan together. Abhishek had arrived at the airport earlier and had already checked in. He was seen waiting for his ladylove in the waiting lounge.
A source who was also at the airport at that time said ?They looked very much in love and there was definitely something going on there. The moment Abhi approached her, she leaned against him.? The source claims that their body language and also the warmth and affection on seeing each other was clearly visible to one and all. The source also confirmed that neither Ash nor Abhi seemed to be concerned about anybody else around them and had eyes only for each other. Both have been extremely busy, Ash was recently at the Cannes promoting her film Provoked and Abhi has just become a brand ambassador for Motorola cell phones. What with all their professional commitments, the couple tries to make up for lost time by catching a few moments of togetherness even if it is at the airport.
Now this definitely should put all those wagging tongues in bollywood who have been harping about the couple?s split to rest.

Beauty and the manglik

Mumbai, June 15: Aishwarya Rai is no friend of mine. Yes I consider her beautiful despite the constant barrage from the media and her envious detractors. Quite honestly, that’s the price one pays at the cost of being one of the few Indian women who have acquired recognition at an international level.
She handles the negativity with quiet aplomb, and try as hard they like, her green eyes, porcelain skin and almost perfect face are here to stay. Her dress sense, or rather lack of it, doesn’t bother me as much as it does the rest of the country. I’d rather worry about our country’s rising statistics of AIDS patients. Yet, the others obsess about her creations in Cannes. She continues to rely on designer Neeta Lulla, inspite of the latter’s lack of sartorial elegance. I refrain from criticising her choice. Just maybe, she’s being loyal to an old friend who has been with her from the first time she shook her right hip. Why not credit her with a sense of faithfulness and the ability to be sensitive to a friend? May be she does have a soul and the relationship means more to her than a sari? Why not deconstruct the ensemble without busting her?
Allegations galore, they say she’s cold and calculating, could it be a facade to protect herself? She has undoubtedly proven she’s smart, but thank God for women who flaunt their mind and not just their belly button. Success brings more trouble than peace, most often. How can one manage to pander to all and sundry. And if she really were that calculating, she would have certainly won over the Press by now!
When she speaks they say she’s too rehearsed. When Madhu Sapre spoke, they laughed and said she’s too vernacular. What’s the harm to make sure that you don’t make a fool of yourself on national TV? When she walked the ramp in support of breast cancer, it was a publicity stunt. Had she not, hell hath no fury as an Aishwarya enemy! If she lands a role in a Hollywood film it’s PR, if voted amongst the most beautiful women in the world by a reputed magazine, her agent was at the right place at the right time. Unbelievable is the media and incredulous I am at the jargon meted out to someone who is clearly more successful than those that condemn her. Her talent too doesn’t bother me.
But what does bother me is the appalling intrusion into her astrological chart. Everyone now knows that she is a manglik. Is she the only woman in India who is a manglik? To condemn a girl, and let the men get away with murder based on her horoscope is archaic, to say the very least. To try and destroy her chance at any existing romance, or relationship is irresponsible and outrageous. TRPs come cheap, or so they say.
Which brings me to the men in her life. She’s certainly not the first Bollywood actress to deny her romances and she certainly won’t be the last. Why cry foul after five years of accepting being hidden? Why didn’t her men earn her respect, or if necessary demand it. If I could get my man to say ‘‘How high’’ when I said ‘‘Jump’’, trust me he’d be permanently suspended in mid air.
Salman Khan is known to be a man who likes to live life on the edge. They say she drove him over the edge. Women in his past say he drove them crazy. Who’s the manglik here? Vivek Oberoi seems to be a one film wonder. Tough, so was Kumar Gaurav. Is his wife Anju a manglik? Is Gauri Khan not a manglik and therefore Shah Rukh, as successful as he is. Can we actually dismiss his talent and hard work and instead credit his wife as we discredit Aishwarya for the failures in her men’s lives? Fardeen Khan was dating Ruheen during his drug bust, today the matter in court seems to be going against him. He’s married to Natasha Madhwani. Who is the manglik here—Ruheen or Natasha? The Mahajans may as well change their surname to Manglik, as it would be too complicated to decipher who the manglik is in their family. And in any case, an astrologer has declared that Mahajan is an unlucky surname.
Don’t get the wrong, I do believe in the science of astrology. It’s been too many years where my non-manglik status has gone unrecognised. So, now the first thing you see as you enter my husband’s office, is a blown up poster of my horoscope. Don’t mock it—your chances might just be better!

Screen beauty Aishwarya Rai had a rendezvous with a Hollywood hardman in Dubai this week. The Bride And Prejudice actress met up with Belgium martial arts star Jean-Claude Van Damme at a glamorous Bollywood event in the Arab state.
At the International Indian Film Academy Awards Aishwarya wowed onlookers when she graced the red carpet in an intricately embroidered stone-coloured sari, her hair flowing loose over her shoulders.
And no one would have been more anxious to have a moment with her than the action star dubbed "the muscles from Brussels". According to organisers, Jean-Claude is "curious" about Bollywood and is keen to get to know the Indian movie industry's top names.
He may also be trying to persuade the green-eyed lovely to join the international cast of his latest flick Asterix At The Olympic Games, which will premiere to coincide with the 2008 Games in Beijing. If the actress agrees she'll be in good company, as Gerard Depardieu and Claudia Cardinale are among the cast, as well as sporting heroes David Beckham and French footballer Zinedine Zidane.

When Aishwarya Rai met Jean-Claude Van Damme

Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai met Hollywood star Jean-Claude Van Damme at the recently concluded IIFA Festival in Dubai.
Reports have it that Aishwarya met the Belgium martial arts star on her one-day visit to IIFA. Van Damme was a guest at the event and he also presented the statuettes at the award function on the closing day.
It is still not known what Ash and Van Damme discussed. But sources suggest at the possibility of the two doing a movie together.
According to Hellomagazine, Jean-Claude is "curious" about Bollywood and is keen to know some top stars from Hindi movie industry.
There is also grapevine that Van Damme is thinking of roping in Ash for his latest flick ‘Asterix At The Olympic Games’, the release of which is planned to coincide with the 2008 Games in Beijing.
If the deal is struck, then we might see Ash acting alongside French actor Gerard Depardieu, Claudia Cardinale and football stars like David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane in the film.
Ash is already likely to work with Hollywood’s Will Smith in a movie. Ash and Smith met in February this year when the latter visited India.
Ash will also be seen in The Last Legion , in which she plays a warrior princess. The film, directed by Doug Lefler, stars Colin Firth, Ben Kingsley and Thomas Sangster.
