Abhishek Bachchan I was dreading this flight to Mauritius. We were going to shoot the title song Kuch Na Kaho. I said Oh God please dont let me sit next to her.....She was right next to me and I said this is it, I am finished. The woman sleeps like a Ms.World aswell, I mean she sleeps perfectly (imitates her posture)...and she is out.I couldnt sleep the entire flight because I was petrified that she is going to wake up in the middle of the night for some water and I'm going to be like (imitates himself) {laughs}..She is never going to want to romance me after that in the song. The next time she sees me like in a romantic scene she is going to see this troll sleeping next to her!!!!!

Aishwarya on Abhishek Bachchan He's completly mad, he's great fun and I think that's why he makes it working with him tough (laughs) because he can't keep a straight face.

They make for a pretty picture off--screen. But do real--life couples sizzle on--screen too?
With the news that long--time couple Surya and Jyothika are all set to do the saat phere in September, the couple's latest film Jillunu Oru Kaadhal has generated a lot of curiosity and even catapulted the film into the top 10 films of the season.
It was similar when Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur were set to act together in Fida. But unlike Jillunu Oro Kaadhal, Fida in spite of all the hype of the reallife couples' onscreen romance, bombed at the box--office. BT asks some filmi folks to pick out some hit pairs and talk about what's hot about them and what's not.
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri, 8/10 I thought their chemistry was amazing in Abhimaan. They were seeing each other then and it showed on screen. Amitabh was the angry young man with his hidden emotions and Jaya looked lovestruck; that provided an element of mystery to the film. Their only drawback was the difference in height. It looked too obvious at times! Indrajit Lankesh
Ajay Devgan and Kajol, 9/10 I think they'll remain the hottest pair forever. They must be a real happy and contented couple in real life and that translates on screen in all their films and ads. They complement each other so well; Kajol with her infectious energy and Ajay with his intensity. When the two of them come together they look so comfortable in each other's presence and the performance comes out so effortlessly.
Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan, 7/10 Ash and Abhi will make a great pair in their forthcoming film Umrao Jaan. The reason I'm pinning them down to a particular film is because they both fit the characters to a T and that matters most in a film. And if they share great chemistry too, then nothing like it.
While the Abhivarya pair might work magic in Umrao Jaan, I don't think the two will work well in social films or films of any other experimental genre.
Surya and Jyothika, 8/10 They are both great lookers and great actors too. So that should suffice to set the screen on fire.
Hema Malini and Dharmendra, 9/10 The couple are a saga of passion on screen. The beauty of their pairing arises from the maturity of their relationship. He for tackling the hurdles of a second marriage, and Hema who kept pace with him all through in a dignified manner.

Umrao Jaan release postponed

The Diwali/Eid of 2006 promises to be a bonanza for Bollywood buffs, what with all the biggies scheduled for release. J.P.Dutta’s ambitious Umrao Jaan was supposed to release at the same time along with Don and Dhoom 2. However, now it seems that the release date has been postponed from October 20th to November 24th. Apparently, the makers wanted to avoid a clash with Don and Dhoom 2.
Releasing all the films at the same time would definitely be detrimental to business. So for all those Ash and Abhishek fans, there is another month of waiting!

The gossip mills are working overtime. Their latest ‘creation’ is that J.P. Dutta has postponed the release date of his Abhishek-Ash starrer UMRAO JAAN from October 20 to November 24 because J.P. didn’t want to clash with the two biggies [DON, JAAN-E-MANN] that are slated for release on October 20, the Diwali/Idd week.
“What rubbish!” J.P.’s tone says it all, “It’s all speculation. I haven’t postponed UMRAO JAAN, nor will I do so. Like I said earlier, the Idd week is crucial for my film. And why should I postpone my film to a latter date? I have already completed the film, so why delay it? October 20 is the date for UMRAO JAAN.”
That clears it: It’s DON versus JAAN-E-MANN versus UMRAO JAAN this Diwali/Idd. http://indiafm.com/news/2006/08/22/7652/index.html

´Umrao Jaan´ - The Actual Release Position ( As Per The Buzz)

While producer-director J.P. Dutta has vehemently denied postponing his Abhishek-Aishwarya starrer 'Umrao Jaan' from the earlier announced date of October 20 , our distribution sources have another thing to say .
According to the buzz in the distribution circles , the film is likely to hit the screens two weeks later , on 3rd November (along with Sunny Deol's 'Kaafila') , thus avoiding a direct clash with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Don' and the Salman-Akshay starrer 'Jaan-E-Mann' , both of which will release on October 20 ( 'Diwali-Eid'). Another reason being thrown for the inevitable postponement is that almost all the major theatres /screens have already been booked for about the 1800-2000 prints of 'Don' and 'Jaan-E-Mann' in India .
While we take Mr. Dutta's word as of now , but we have had innumerable examples of makers asserting repeatedly that they will not postpone but doing so at the eleventh hour .

After working together on Swades, UTV and Ashutosh Gowariker Production will produce the much-spoken of Jodha Akhbar. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, the film is set in 16th century and looks in to the alliance of a Mughal leader and a Rajput princess.
Ronnie Screwvala and Ashutosh Gowariker are both excited about working together. Says Ronnie Screwvala, "We were always clear that we would work together again. Its was a just a question of when and how." Adds Ashutosh, "I had a fixed idea and wanted the right backing for the project. Film is not only about production, but about packaging, positioning, marketing and distribution." Ashutosh continues, "The idea has been with me since I completed Lagaan but I decided to work on Swades as this film needed more research. Haider Ali is helping me with the research of this film. I am excited about the love story angle. I have never made a film on a love story before."
