This is not unique to Real. Many clubs do it.
All sales might not make the front page, but i know that many big clubs sell their youth players to other clubs to help them in their development.
The first team only has 14 spots and there is alot of youth talent floating around Real. They have to balance the two.
Additionally, Real Madrid has one of the critical fan bases. They demand results every game or you would hear it. The Bernabau is not the ideal place to groom young talent. The atmosphere is too hard and can do more damage than good in most cases
|
|
yeah, yeah, yeah. real apologist.
this was a sale, not a loan.
put them in cup ties, put them in CL games when the team has already clinched qualification to the next round, bring them in games that you are winning and ease the process in which they are incorporated into the team.
what happens when you get a few injuries in the senior side? when you have suspensions? you will have no one behind them that can fill in for them and give you any type of guarantee.
its not rocket science we are talking here, many clubs, including Real, have found ways to bring in young players into their teams. up to them if you want 10 foreigners and Raul on your team.
up to you if you want to continue seeing pathetic displays by the Spanish national team in WC and Euro tournaments - dont ask why they always have dissapointing results - 'cos all the key positions in the big clubs are taken by foreigners.
|
|
You still haven't shown me how this is unique to Real Madrid. Most top flight teams do it.
Most of the time, even if a young player is sold, there is usually a buy-back clause or a revenue sharing clause if the player is sold again.
However, as i said before, I not sure why you are singling out Real when most other top flight teams all do this.
I must reiterate. The Santiago Bernabau is not the smartest place to groom a youngster.
Regardless, why do you think Capello carried Adan, De La Red, Balboa, Javi Garcia and JuanFran to their USA pre-season tour???

Re:Reports: Madrid considering Ronaldo swap for Kaka

MADRID, Spain (AP) - Real Madrid may offer Ronaldo to AC Milan in exchange for Kaka, according to Spanish news reports on Sunday.
Milan is reportedly keen to bolster its attack by signing Ronaldo to replace Andriy Shevchenko, who left for Chelsea in May. And Madrid could take advantage by using the Brazil striker as a bargaining tool for acquiring his compatriot Kaka, whose arrival was a pre-electoral pledge of the club's new president Ramon Calderon, sports daily Marca said.
Ronaldo, who spent five years in Milan with rival Inter before joining Madrid in 2002, has two years left on his contract but is believed to be unsettled. Last season, he threatened to leave Madrid due to continuing criticism from supporters.
The Brazilian's position appears to be further weakened by reports that Madrid's new coach Fabio Capello prefers recent signing Ruud van Nistelrooy to spearhead the attack for the new season rather than Ronaldo.
Ronaldo has yet to play under Capello as he is sidelined with a knee injury.
Milan has so far refused to countenance the transfer of Kaka - who is under contract to Milan until 2011 - but could change its mind if Ronaldo is offered, the paper added.
Madrid's interest in the attacking midfielder drew an angry response last month from Milan vice president Adriano Galliani, who referred to Calderon, sports director Predrag Mijatovic and his assistant Franco Baldini as "bandits."
Calderon sought to defuse the row by writing to Galliani, saying it was all a "big misunderstanding."
Kaka, who played for Milan in a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in a preseason friendly on Saturday, appeared unconcerned by the speculation.
"In this matter, those who decide are Milan and Real Madrid. I have played my part and I'm very happy with my team," Kaka was quoted as saying by Marca on Sunday.

Ronaldo who is injured, didnt make the trip to US with Real, and has a bad realtionship with the fans there! Might be we can work smth out here! But Kaka wants to stay put in Milan and Capello does not want to push Ronnoe out...well thats what I read. Ho pe this is a mere rumour.
|
|
Ronaldo will be a great signing actualy. I will be happy. Him and Kaka can play! Ronaldo is very proficient and can still score a lot!
|
|
He will do wonders in Milan. Leave Madrid and come to the Rosenneri
|
|
I support the fact of Ronnie moving to Milan.

I will be the first one to acknowledge the glorious culture, history and achievements of Real Madrid in the European Soccer.. Just i wanted to clear a couple of points and iam sure most of u will agree with me if u carefully manipulate on my points..Yea, agreed that Real Madrid r one of the giants in the European soccer, but then for the last few years, they have achieved very less in Europe and also in their own Liga..Well, if u gleam through the history of Real Madrid, all their major successes have come during the Franco regime which coincided with the presence of many luminiaries in their teams with Destefano and Puskas heading the list..They did maintain that record for quite some time but then, it seems they have fallen flat in the last 4 years..The reasons for this is definately not the lack of talent in the team but i think it is rather because Real Madrid has become rather market oriented now a days..Ironically, after they won the Champions in 2002-2003( remember they had won the previous edition too), they shockingly dropped the author of their success Vicente Del Bosque and their rock, yea the skipper who selflessly served them for 12 years, Fernando Heirro..
|
|
it was shocking to be polite and in the same season, they brought in David Beckham( obviously for marketing reasons and after all it is a well known fact that the incumbent has a great fanfollowing in the crowded asian countries more for his marketing strategies..) Also, they got players like Graveson who would never fit in the scheme of things and in the way Real has always been known to play their soccer..The result was all there to see..Well, they have not seemed to learn from their mistakes and it was a shock to see them sign players like Emerson (no disrespect to him, but then he is similar to Graveson in his style) and Cannavaro( 33)who is probably at the prime of his career.. They surely lack the players of the calibre of Redondo( a wonderfully gifted midfielder who could run circles aroung opposite players)or Kaka or maybe Ronaldino..These players r the playmakers who can alter the match with a single moment of magic and yea, another big mistake was to let go Makelele who was a magnificient defensive midfielder..And with the retirement of Zidane, the place he has vacated is very tough to fill and with all main stars hovering around or above 30( Ronaldo, Rudd, beckham,Emerson, Canna,Guti,Helguera, Raul...), i dont see them giving Barca a run for their money in the domestic league or in the CL , i dont see them advancing further than quarters against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, ACMILAN, Lyon, PSV,Arsenal, Bayern..
|
|
Time will tell. I don't know about your Barca. They are getting their butts handed to them right now by America. America is a good Mexican club but no world beater. The game ended 4-4. Barca scored three times in the last 10 minutes.

Beckham set to discuss new deal

David Beckham is ready to discuss a new contract extension with Real Madrid as the club reiterated its desire to retain the former England captain.
The 31-year-old Beckham's current contract with Real runs out next June.
"No deal has been agreed but we're due to sit down soon to discuss a new contract," said a Beckham spokesman.
Real president Ramon Calderon told the Madrid club's website: "We have talked to his agent and we are in agreement to extend his contract."
Beckham joined Real in a £24.5m move from Manchester United in 2003, signing a four-year deal, but the club have failed to win a major trophy in his three seasons in Spain.
Calderon added: "Beckham tells me he is happy in Madrid, that his children are happy, that Brooklyn speaks Spanish."
"For Madrid he is an essential player because of the way he plays and what he represents. You should have seen him in the United States during Madrid's recent tour."
Beckham is free to negotiate with other clubs in January if he fails to agree a new contract with Real.
Last week Beckham was dropped by Steve McClaren as England's new coach announced his first international squad.

Reyes transfer to Real in danger
« Reply #212 on: August 17, 2006, 10:05:09 PM »

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon insists Arsenal hold the key if they are to sign Jose Antonio Reyes from the London club.
Calderon said signing Mahamadou Diarra from Lyon was the club's priority.
"Reyes will come only if Arsenal meet our conditions," he told Spanish daily AS. "I'm not going to waste a euro.
"I feel sorry for the lad if the deal doesn't come off, but we've no arrangement to sign him at all costs. Arsenal will have the last word."
Reyes, 22, did not play in Arsenal's win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and it seemed he was set for a move to the Bernabeu after not being cup-tied.
"My dream of wearing the Madrid shirt is growing ever nearer," Reyes said recently. "It's hard to stay calm at a time like this.
"Madrid's offer cannot be turned down. Now all that is left is for the offer also to be good for Arsenal."
Arsenal are believed to want £16m for the winger or Julio Baptista to move to the club as part of any deal.
But the two clubs appear to be at a stand off as negotiations threaten to collapse.
But Reyes added: "The coach knows that I have had problems in adapting to the lifestyle in England.
"If agreement isn't reached, it will be bad for Arsenal and for me."

Real cast doubt over Reyes transfer

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon insists the Spanish giants will not be held to ransom by Arsenal over any deal for Jose Antonio Reyes.
The Spain forward declared last week he was desperate to seal his move to the Santiago Bernabeu "as soon as possible" and was left out of the Gunners' recent Champions League third-round qualifier against Dinamo Zagreb.
However, no deal has yet been agreed between the two clubs and although Real are still looking to sign Reyes, Calderon declared they will not pay over the odds for the 22-year-old.
"Reyes will only come if Arsenal agree to our terms," he told Real's official website.
"I'm not going to pay one euro (more). I'm sorry for the kid if the deal doesn't go through, but we don't have any agreement to sign Reyes. Arsenal have the last word."
Calderon threw further doubt on the transfer of Reyes by claiming new Real coach Fabio Capello is concentrating his efforts on securing the signature of Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diarra.
"According to Capello, the push is for Diarra," added Calderon.
Diarra, 25, has threatened to go on strike if the French club do not let him go.
Real Madrid are reported to have made a £13.5million offer to Lyon, as well as offering players in exchange, but the French champions are believed to be holding out for £23.7million for the Mali international.
Calderon also reiterated his desire to bring AC Milan playmaker Kaka to Madrid.
Signing the Brazil international was one of Calderon's election pledges this summer but a transfer has failed to materialise.
"I am convinced Kaka will play for Madrid sooner or later," he said. "I am sure it will happen before the end of the season.
"But as I've already said, Capello and (sporting director Predrag) Mijatovic make the sports-related decisions and gave priority to other signings, and they have asked me for economic backing elsewhere, especially for signing Diarra."

Barca start busy fortnight with Super Cup derby
« Reply #214 on: August 17, 2006, 11:08:02 PM »

|
MADRID, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Spanish and European champions Barcelona will have to hit the ground running in a frantic start to the season kicking off with a local derby against Espanyol in the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday.
The traditional curtain raiser to the season against the King's Cup winners is the first of five high-profile matches awaiting Barca in the space of 12 days.
They host Espanyol in the return leg at the Nou Camp on Sunday, meet German champions Bayern Munich in the annual Hans Gamper trophy on Tuesday and then face UEFA Cup winners Sevilla in the European Super Cup in Monaco the following Friday.
Three days later they begin their title defence away to Celta Vigo.
Barca have just returned from a draining two-week promotional tour of Mexico and the United States, but coach Frank Rijkaard has said there is no danger of his players holding back in Thursday's match.
'We are very optimistic about the Super Cup and winning it is one of our objectives this season,' the Dutchman said earlier this week. 'It is an important trophy for both the players and the club.'
The majority of Barca's players have been released from international duty to prepare for the game and Rijkaard's only selection worries centre on Carles Puyol, Xavi and Juliano Belletti who all have minor injury niggles.
Thursday's game at Montjuic will give new signings Eidur Gudjohnsen, Gianluca Zambrotta and Lilian Thuram a chance to play their first competitive matches for the Catalans, while Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi will be raring to go after their disappointing performances at the World Cup.
'It is going to be a real pleasure to play alongside Messi, (Samuel) Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Deco,' Zambrotta said earlier this week. 'The level technical skill and spirit of the team are really impressive.'
Espanyol are essentially the same outfit as the one which avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, but they are experts at upsetting the form book as evidenced by their 4-1 demolition of favourites Real Zaragoza in the final of last season's King's Cup.
'There is no doubt that Barca are the favourites,' Espanyol coach Ernesto Valverde said on Monday. 'They are the league and European champions and play the second leg at home.
'But we are in good shape and nowhere is it written that the favourites always win.'

MADRID, Spain (AP) - Valencia has signed Empoli striker Francesco Tavano on a four-year contract.
Valencia gave no financial details on Wednesday of the deal for Tavano, the scorer of 37 Italian league goals in the past two seasons. Tavano, 27, will replace Miguel Angel "Mista" Ferrer, who joined Atletico Madrid earlier this month.
Valencia, third in the Spanish league last season, has signed another striker during the off-season - Spanish international Fernando Morientes from Liverpool.
The new season begins on Aug. 26.
