Hymn The UEFA Champions League Anthem, officially titled simply as "Champions League", is an arrangement by Tony Britten of Georg Frideric Handel's "Zadok the Priest" from the Coronation Anthems. UEFA commissioned Britten in 1992 to arrange their hymn, who took the beginning of "Zadok the Priest" as a starting point for his arrangement. The piece was performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and sung by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields chorus in the three official languages used by UEFA: English, German, and French. The hymn's chorus is played before each UEFA Champions League game, as well as at the beginning and end of television broadcasts of the matches. The complete hymn is about three minutes long, and has two short verses and the chorus. The hymn has never been released commercially.
Financial UEFA Champions League is a highly profitable competition for the clubs that reach the group stage. UEFA distributes part of the revenue obtained from television deals between these clubs. For example, the payments for the 2004/05 competition ranged from €3.8m (Sparta Prague) to €30.6 million (Liverpool) [5]. UEFA estimates the amount of money to be given to the 32 participants of the 2005/06 group stage at €430 million [6]. Clubs make additional money from ticket sales, corporate hospitality, merchandising and so on.

AC Milan appeals Champions League ban
ROME (AP) - AC Milan appealed its ban from Champions League play Monday in Italy's match-fixing scandal.
Verdicts by the sports tribunal are expected Tuesday, the deadline set by UEFA for Italian soccer officials to decide which clubs participate in European club competitions this season.
Milan, which escaped demotion from Serie A, is seeking to overturn the July 14 ruling, which barred the club from Europe's top club competition and docked it 15 points.
Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina were relegated to Serie B. Juventus was stripped of its last two Serie A titles and penalized 30 points; Fiorentina was docked 12-points and Lazio seven.
Also, 19 officials and referees were sanctioned for influencing matches.
Lawyers for Juventus argued Sunday that the team should keep its last two league titles regardless of any wrongdoing. Lazio and Fiorentina have also appealed their punishments.
Separately, prosecutors in Rome, Naples, Parma and Turin are conducting criminal probes into alleged sports fraud, illegal betting and false bookkeeping. Any indictments could take months.

guys, lets stop whingging about the past and do what we do best on this page, analyse the beautiful game. what do you guys think about this season's champion's league. Will barca retain the tittle, does Abromovich get his dream fulfilled, how about a rejuvenated madrid, Is Arsenal going all the way, or is a year of the underdogs coming out on top(Liverpool, PSV)or should we bet on Lyon,

Favourties: Barca, Chelsea, Liverpool, Lyon in no particular order
I think these teams also have realistic shots at it but it will come down to their transfer activity over the next few weeks:
Arsenal, Bayern, Madrid, Valencia, Man U, Inter.
With Juve out, there is a better chance for the underdogs... I think maybe PSV or Bremen. But really those top four are the ones for me. I really hope the Roman Empire crumbles this year though.
ps. this is only my opinion, i welcome yours

Since Milan will be allowed to compete in the CL after all. If that is the case then they are definitely among the favourites. They will need another striker though, wonder who's available. surely Crespo.

UEFA has to ban AC Milan

UEFA has to ban AC Milan. Otherwise the message is clear.
cheat, and if you're caught, you'll get a slap on the wrist
FIFA promotes FAIR PLAY, and UEFA has a responsibility to uphold that...
they have to be banned, at least one year from any European competitions
Will it happen? of course not. UEFA is as hypocritical as AC Milan is as FIFA is
