Abe you should keep us informed about the Seleção. After all you have stronger ties and connection with Brazil. And Shamzy you should ask stuff from copacabana more. Need to know the updates.
|
|
As far as the Seleção is concerned Sham knows better and she's getting updates from copacabana, Joe Kent and La Esteban. Her editor drills her for that so she gets the stuff and leak some in here. As for competitions within Brazil so far I can only leak the Copa Brasil 2006 and its the May results.
17/05/2006 Semi-Finals Vasco da Gama x Fluminense 1-1
18/05/2006 Flamengo x Ipatinga 2-1
Thats all I have. Will update ya'll soon.

Exactly. His contract with Portugal has come to an end. I doubt if there's any renewal.
And Shamzy thanx for letting us know that Gilberto Silva will not be moving from Arsenal to Lyon.

The gossip mill springs back into action
With the World Cup over and football pundits from around the globe having filed their final reports from Germany it seems that most have already returned to their favourite pastime - gossip. As usual Brazilian players are attracting a fair amount of speculation and here is a selection of what is being said.
On Tuesday Portsmouth put in an improved offer for 27 year old attacking midfielder Edu, but Real Betis President Manuel Ruiz de Lopera claimed he was not looking to sell one of his star players, and the answer was still no (Yahoo Sport).
Ramón Calderón, Real Madrid’s new president has expressed his desire to see Kaka move to the club from AC Milan while Roberto Carlos is said to have discussed his desire to move on with Real management. Chelsea are believed to be contemplating signing the 36 year old left back (various).
The 26 year old full back Fabio Aurelio ahs completed his move from Valencia to Liverpool. Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is one of the may who are touting him as the most likely replacement for Carlos since he retired from the Selecão (confirmed).
Real Madrid are said to be eyeing Emerson but are holding out until the fate of Juventus is determined; they face possible relegation to Serie C following their involvement in the Italian match fixing fiasco (The Guardian).
Manchester United are also eagerly awaiting news concerning the Italian teams Juventus, AC Milan and Fiorentina with their eyes set on goalkeeper Dida (The Guardian).
Inter de Milan, who are not linked to allegations of match fixing, have been expressed an interest in wingers Macion and Maxwell (Folha Do São Paulo).

Ronaldo under goes surgery
Ronaldo underwent surgery on Saturday, according to the Real Madrid player's agent.
Ronaldo has had two serious injuries earlier in his career. First in 1999, when he tore up his knee with Inter Milan and needed surgery. A year later, he twisted the same knee and was out for most of the season after surgery.
This time it was Ronaldo's left tibia that was operated on to remove calcifications that had been causing pain.
The surgery at Pasteur Hospital in Rio de Janeiro was performed by Brazil national team doctor Jose Luiz Runco.
Ronaldo was expected to leave the hospital either Saturday night or early Sunday, Clement said.

Brazilian Championship

Presentation The principle is simple: The Brazilian championship 2006 will proceed in similar fashion to the European leagues; 22 teams compete home and away, with the winner been the team who finish with the most points and thus automatically qualify for the Copa Libertadores 2007. In addition, the second, third and four placed teams will qualify for the next Copa Libertadores. The four last teams in the table will be relegated to the second division whereas the two first of the second division will reach the first division.
Results
Round: 11 12/07/2006
Fluminense x Juventude 3-2 Atlético-PR x Fortaleza 0-0 Internacional x Ponte Preta 2-0 São Paulo x Grêmio 2-1 Cruzeiro x Corinthians 2-0 São Caetano x Botafogo 1-1 Figueirense x Santos 2-1 Santa Cruz x Goiás 2-1 Flamengo x Paraná 1-4 Palmeiras x Vasco 4-2
And these are the outstanding one in the Championship
Claudio Pitbull (Fluminense) Dodô (Botafogo) Gustavo Nery (Corinthians) Juninho Paulista (Palmeiras) Luizão (Flamengo) Marcos (Palmeiras) Nilmar (Corinthians) Rafael Sobis (Internacional) Ricardinho (Corinthians) Ricardo Oliveira (São Paulo FC) Rogério Ceni (São Paulo) Tevez (Corinthians)
I've seen Nilmar play and that boy has got what it takes to be in the Seleção. Even Rafael Sobis, Ricardo Oliveira and Tevez are true stars. The future of the Seleção I hope. We've seen Juan, Lucio, Robinho and Ze Roberto shine and these yound guns will too.

After the Italian scandal its best if the players move to diff clubs. Imagine have 15 points knocked-off for the start of season. And tho AC Milan may not drop to Serie B or C but it can still kill you. It will be good to see Kaka in Real Madrid and lets hope Roberto Carlos sticks with Real Madrid. I like Chelsea but EPL can be very critical and its not as constructive as La Liga. As for Fabio Aurelio well its good for him if he moves to Liverpool but even better for the Seleção if he comes in. And with Juventus possibly moving to Serie C, hopefully Emerson will come out and join Madrid.
And Dida possibly moving to Man U. Well I hope not. Ferguson will make his life a living hell. Probably to La Liga will be good.
