I admit that am clueless when it comes to football and my boo gets annoyed when I ask him stuff during a game but I have to let you know Jools that there are a few dishy looking players in the Brazilian squad. I find Kaka, Ze Roberto and Cicinho good looking.
Guys am here just to defend a few cute players. Pls dont get me with retaliatory post.

This is what I call the Brazilian sanctuary where all my Samba babies are immortalised. This is only for Brazilian football players where their personal information can be looked upon. I even welcome information on players such as Pele, Socrates, Zico and even Rafael Sobis.

Jools with all due respect. The reason I watch football is solely due to the very fundamentals of the game. I love every aspect of the game and to me it's the most beautiful game ever. Jogo Bonito. I dont give a rats ass as to the looks of the players cuz thats not what football is about. Football is about team-play and interception. Attack and defence. Trickery and master-mind. Creativity and space. Its not an exposition for good-looking guys with well tonned butts. Its a showcase for talent and most of all, its a showcase for the undying love towards this beautiful game.
I was exposed to football when I was very very young. When I was 5 or so. My dad, being a great football fanatic, he would have tonnes of recorded matches dating back to the late 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. Thats my very first exposure to football, by watching those matches with my dad and having an innocent game of football with my dad, uncles and cousins. I didn grow up playing with Barbies and Polly Pockets. I grew up playing football. So my love and obsession towards football goes way back then. Of course my dad is a huge Brazilian biggie so I gues my love came from him too. We will watch 1958 World Cup matches where Pele did a lovely goal against France hence winning the cup. That was the only Brazilian team to trash France and also to win the Cup on a European soil. In fact they are the only non-european team to win the cup on a European soil. I watched matches played by Pele, Socrates, Zico, Maradona, Dino Zoff, Paolo Rossi and even Johan Cruyff. They may not posess smashing good looks but they posess skils. Skils that even today its hard to compete.
Its true that the Brazilian squad may not posess good looking guys but who the hell cares. They are great players and tho they faced a pre-mature exit for this current World Cup, it does not defeat the fact that they are great players. I love Brazil for that and will always do.
England may have dashing players but honestly it stops there. Frank Lampard missed too many shots on goal, Wayne Rooney with his stupid temper and Peter Crouch's clumsiness is just a mere tip of the ice-berg. Sven Goran Eriksson's 4-1-4-1 formation and his stupid decision of bringing in 17 year old Theo Walcott is another howler. They may be the BEST players but not the BEST team. Honestly speaking. Besides just look at their WC history. They won the cup only once and that too in 1966. They are notorious for red card collection and they shuck at penalties. More often than not they will make it to the quarter-finals. Thats about all. And so what if I live in the UK momentarily. That will not change facts and my love towards South American football especially Brazilian football.
AND YUCKKKKK...I WILL NEVER EVER WORSHIP THE ENGLISH SQUAD. THE BEST EUROPEAN TEAM FOR ME THAT IS, HAS TO BE GERMANY.
And finally not all Brazilian players are fugly.
Look at Kaka, Adriano, Ze Roberto, Cicinho, Gilberto Silva and Fred. They are cute. Roberto Carlos, Dida, Cris, Luisao, Lucio and Ronaldo are not that bad too. Robinho is so darn cute. Ronaldinho and Emerson are soo modish. But at the end of the day, ppl love them cuz of their skills and that prevails.
So I will still have this obsession towards Brazil. After all Jogo Bonito.

Juninho, real name Antônio Augusto Ribeiro Reis Junior, also known as Juninho Pernambucano (born January 30, 1975 in Recife) is a Brazillian footballer who plays central midfielder for Olympique Lyonnais and the Brazilian national team.
Clubs His career started with Sport Clube do Recife. Juninho played 110 games with Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama, scoring 24 goals. He won the Copa Libertadores with Vasco and, in 2000, won the Brazilian silver Ball trophy.
He is especially famous for his accurate, powerful and varied set pieces, having scored 26 free kicks for Olympique Lyonnais. He is amongst the world’s best in this area, recently demonstrated in March 2006, when he scored a freekick from a staggering 38 metres against AC Ajaccio. In addition, he is a technically and mentally gifted player, although he lacks the pace of other midfielders. His leadership abilities has prompted Gerard Houllier to give him the captain's armband, as well.
Juninho has proved an influential force at the club. Before his arrival at Olympique Lyonnais, the club had never won the championship, but since his arrival, they have won it five seasons in a row.
Juninho's exploits at Lyon earned him the admiration of clubs around Europe, most notably Manchester United in the English Premier League. Other rumours suggest that he could be the first of many big name signings for Aston Villa come the possible takeover by an Irish Consortium.
National team He has 37 caps with the Brazilian national team. He received his first cap on March 28, 1999. He was selected by Carlos Alberto Parreira for the Brazilian World Cup 2006 squad as a bench player on the deeply gifted squad. He scored a brilliant goal in Brazil's 4-1 win against Japan in their final group match with a typical long-range strike that somehow squirted through the keeper's hands after coming off the bench to replace usual starter Zé Roberto .
He has retired from the national team, stating that "The national team is over for me and those of us over 30 have to leave a place for the younger players to make a new team for 2010," referring to players like Cafu (36) and Dida (32).
"We have to think about the young guys and build up another team."

This is one of my fav players. Really good free kicks. I've seen him practice and he's so determined. If he retires this will be a great loss to the Selaco squad. There's still Lyon tho.
And now I know the reason for the name Pernambucano.
