Why Vidya Balan is doing Eklavya

Parineeta was such a big hit that only Vidya Balan became a household name, the film set her on the path to stardom.
Soon after the success of Parineeta, Vidhu Vinod Chopra cast Vidya in his next film – Eklavya .
But Vidhu Vinod Chopra is not the reason that Vidya is doing Eklavya.
The reason for Vidya doing Eklavya is Amitabh Bachchan .
Vidya told a website, “I have a significant but small role compared to my debut film, but it didn't stop me from doing it as working with Vinod Chopra's unit was always like a holiday and on the top it I was getting a chance to work with the biggest superstar from the industry, Amitabh Bachchan”.
Last month we told you that in an interview Bachchan had lavishly praised Vidya, saying that lady has magic in her face.
Seems like, the admiration is mutual.

The principal shooting of the film finished in April 2006. The primary location was Rajasthan but some filming took place at the Devigarh Palace in Udaipur, Jaipur and Bikaner. The film was to be released in November but will now release on December 8 [1].

Trivia:
The film was originally titled Yagna.
A teaser trailer was released in 2005 which featured Amitabh Bachchan.
The film brings together real life mother and son, Sharmila Tagore and Saif Ali Khan. They will share screen space for the first time.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra has used 800 camels for a particular scene.
