Shah Rukh's son Aryan is a huge fan of Preity. So much so, he doesn't like dad ditching Preity even in a film.
Preity Zinta is known to have several fans. Among them is little Aryan, Shah Rukh Khan's son and it was his undying love for Preity that prevented SRK from showing him the second half of Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna.
A close friend of SRK confirmed this. "Shah Rukh had organised a special screening for his kids, but didn't show Aryan the second half of the film because he knew Aryan would feel bad about the climax.
Aryan is very fond of Preity Zinta and he would not understand why his father ditches Preity aunty for Rani. They are too young to understand extra-marital affairs," he said.
While Aryan dotes on Preity, the actress is a big fan of his father. When Preity was informed about this incident, she giggled and added, "Aryan is too cute And I am a huge fan of Shah Rukh."

Service tax: King Khan tops

Manish Pachouly Mumbai, August 16, 2006
Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan has to pay a price for endorsing products — a whopping Rs 71 lakh. This is the amount King Khan forked out as service tax for April to June 2006.
While other actors too strut their stuff for the advertising industry, Khan rules the roost when it comes to paying service tax. He is followed by Abhishek Bachchan who paid Rs 25 lakh this financial year (2006-07). Rani Mukherjee is at the third slot with Rs 18 lakh and Amitabh Bachchan, Rs 15 lakh.
Other major service taxpayers include Sushmita Sen (Rs 9 lakh), Hrithik Roshan (Rs 8 lakh), Saif Ali Khan (Rs 7.5 lakh) and Ajay Devgan (Rs 6.75 lakh).
Service tax is paid quarterly while the return for the same is filed every six months.
Confirming the figures, SJ Singh Commissioner, Service Tax, said the department had identified 70 brand ambassadors who had to pay service tax and half of these had not even registered themselves with the department.
"Notices have been sent to 35 brand ambassadors who are either from the film or television world," Singh said.
Levying of service tax on brand ambassadors was a controversial issue till recently. Actors had argued that they worked in individual capacity and not as commercial concerns and don't fall under the ambit of service tax.
However, in the latest Union budget, the government clarified that individual endorsing of products would come under service tax net. The government removed the words "commercial concern" from all the areas falling under the service tax bracket and replaced it with "person".
This cleared the confusion. Service tax officers said, post this amendment a lot of celebrities from Bollywood and television who have endorsed products, came forward to register themselves with the department.
Meanwhile, service tax officers have also written letters to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), BEST and railways asking them to register themselves with the department as they sell space for advertisement and provide other services. Singh confirmed that letters were written to these government bodies.
The department wanted information about the persons these bodies had given services to and the payment they got for the same.
Singh added that the department has only sent letters to these bodies but it would meet general managers of all these bodies some time soon.

‘We’ll verify Tops’ guards records’

Police ask for database of all guards employed by TopsGrup; say the agency didn’t even verify the guard’s address before posting him at Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow
Mumbai Mirror Bureau
The Mumbai police would verify the credentials of all the guards employed by TopsGrup security agency that provided security guards at Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow Mannat. They have taken this decision after they found huge flaws in the induction process adopted by the security agency.
“We have asked for the database of the guards employed by TopsGrup. We would also find out whether the guards hold a valid arms license and whether the weapons given to them are in consonance with the license they hold. We would also ask for the purchase receipts of the weapons,” said Additional Commissioner Bipin Bihari.
Meanwhile, Rahul Nanda, the head honcho of TopsGrup, was grilled for over five hours on Wednesday by the Bandra police. “We interrogated Nanda for over five hours. We found that the security agency didn’t even verify Yatendra Singh Chauhan’s address before posting him at Khan’s bungalow,” said Bihari.
Chauhan was the guard who shot his colleague Chandrapratap Singh following an argument over having a nap. Singh was declared dead at the Bhabha Hospital.
Chauhan, a native of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, had arrived in Mumbai on July 30 this year. He then went to the security agency to apply for the job of a security guard, said Bihari. “After filling up his application form, which took less than an hour, Chauhan was taken directly to Khan’s bungalow and was posted there,” said Bihari.
“Verification of his residential address, his weapon and arms license should have been done before posting him anywhere. The company should have even sought police verification before posting him. When someone is posted to guard a celebrity, verification becomes all the more necessary,” added Bihari.
Meanwhile, police security has been beefed up at Mannat. “I am not aware if Khan has continued with the private security, but the private guards shall not be allowed to carry any weapon,” said Bihari. “Chauhan worked with a Congress leader in Delhi before joining the TopsGrup. We are also getting a list of other celebrities to whom the company provides security,” he added.

The finger pointing continues, Ratan Jain refutes SRK’s claim
Ram Kamal Mukherjee
Ever since Shah Rukh Khan made public his views on Ratan Jain; the producer has been a disturbed man. Recently, in an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Shah Rukh spoke about the time when he approached Ratan Jain with Ashutosh Gowarikar for Lagaan. Jain had discouraged him and also advised him to disassociate with directors like Ashutosh then.
"What is Shah Rukh talking about," says Jain. Elaborating on the issue, Jain says, "If Shah Rukh would have come to me with the script of Lagaan I wouldn never have refused the film. I would have done the film because of Shah Rukh, without paying attention to the script. My association with Shah Rukh goes back since our Baazigar days, he is like family. I don't know what went wrong."
Incidentally, Shah Rukh had visited Ratan Jain three months after the release of Lagaan. "He came to my office with Ashutosh for Akbar-Jodha. He was very keen on the project. But I am unaware of what happened after that,” informs Jain.
So did Jain advise Shah Rukh to steer clear from directors like Ashutosh? "I don't know what he means to say by that. I don't remember saying any such thing to Shah Rukh," he says. So where does the Shah Rukh-Ratan Jain relationship head from here? "People think that we have a problem, but we don't. I read the interview and was taken aback. But I didn't speak to Shah Rukh regarding this issue. I think, if he feels that he needs to talk about it, he will call me. Shah Rukh is not a stranger to me or vice versa," he says.
Currently Jain is busy promoting his film Aap Ki Khatir. When asked about the Dharmesh Darshan controversy regarding the latter's sexual preferences, in London he says, "I don't take any interest in other people's personal life. I am only concerned with my films."

The actor's latest commercial has him dancing to the beats of a Marathi folk song composed by Vishal-Shekhar
Ranjib Mazumder
He may not be making his debut in Marathi films, but he's certainly going to learn a couple of tricks of that trade. Shah Rukh Khan, king of commercials, is reconfiguring his dance moves to the tune of a Marathi folk song for a biscuit commercial. His steps will be choreographed by Farah Khan, with Vishal-Shekhar composing the music. The composers, who have ‘fine-tuned’ other ad-films in the past, are excited about the new project, although they were a bit surprised when choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan approached them to compose music in the Marathi folk tradition.
“Most of the time, an ad is done in Hindi, and then translated to other regional languages. We've done many ad-films with Farah in the past, but this time it was different as we had to compose the song in pucca Marathi. Having lived in Mumbai for so many years, we know the essence of Marathi culture. That's why we chose the popular lavani or tamasha music and gave it a very catchy tune,” says Vishal.
Shah Rukh loved the results – the lyrics and the music were a hit with not only the Farah Khan, but also with the actor, whose company, Red Chillies produced the film. “The dance steps that Farah choreographed were completely in sync with the music and Shah Rukh has done a fabulous job. This is going to be remembered for a long time for its peppy rhythm,” Vishal promises.

“I Would Never Leave My Son,” says SRK

Faridoon Shahryar, IndiaGlitz [Saturday, August 19, 2006]
Shahrukh Khan is a happy man. His latest flick ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ is being touted as the biggest money spinner for the super Star. Ever. And his next release for the year, ‘Don’, in my opinion is going to do a world of good to his image. For, he is going to play a mercurial negative character after a long time. The movie stills and the promos are looking extremely stylish. And when SRK mouths ‘I am the King’ in that husky ‘Baazigar’ tone, it sure sounds sexy.
You can check out SRK along with Socialite-Writer Shobha De and Director Karan Johar discussing Marriage and Infidelity with host Barkha Dutt in a special episode of ‘We The People’ on NDTV 24/7 this weekend. A no-holds barred discussion shall see King Khan admitting that his character in KANK is in direct contrast to his real self. “I am not at all suggesting that people leave their families. I would never leave my son,” he says.
IndiaGlitz says, this will make for interesting viewing. Don’t miss it!

If you tune in to the Marathi TV channels, you just might see Shah Rukh Khan dancing to traditional Marathi lavani and tamasha music! It's for an ad for Sunfeast Marie biscuits which will be launched in Maharashtra. Other Bollywood biggies associated with this ad include Vishal-Shekhar who have composed the music and Farah Khan who has done the choreography. It has been produced by Shah Rukh Khan's company Red Chillies. It was Farah who approached the musical duo to compose a Marathi folk tune, since the ad was targeted at the Marathi speaking crowd. They were quite excited since they have never done something like this before. They decided to use 'lavani' or 'tamasha' music to bring the quintessential Marathi flavor. (Source: IndiaFM.com)

IN SPOT LIGHT: Shah Rukh Khan will be seen dancing to Farah Khan steps in a biscuit ad.
Mumbai: Music director duo Vishal-Shekhar are very excited about a biscuit advertisement in which Shah Rukh Khan dances to Marathi tunes composed by them.
The duo, who have done the music for several jingles and ad films in the past, were in for a big surprise when choreographer friend Farah Khan requested them to compose a Marathi folk tune for a biscuit ad featuring Shah Rukh, reports Bollywood Trade.
"We have worked with Farah Khan on several ad films in the past, but this time we were stunned because we had never recorded a Marathi song before. The ad was for a popular range of biscuits to be launched in Maharashtra.
"It was to be essentially targeted at the Marathi-speaking crowd. Having lived in Mumbai, we thought we knew the essence of Marathi culture. That's why we chose the popular 'lavani' or tamasha music for the ad and gave it a very catchy tune," said Vishal.
Needless to add, the ad agency which had given the lyrics to the duo was absolutely delighted with the results - and so were Farah and Shah Rukh, whose company Red Chillies produced the ad.
The dance steps Farah later chose for Shah Rukh were completely in sync with the beats of the music and theme of the ad. It has just been released on all Marathi channels and has become an instant hit.
"The ad reflects a new beginning for the Maharashtrian community and the music and its looks go well with this concept," said Vishal.
Asked if they were open to composing music for a Marathi film, Vishal said: "Why not, if the project interests us and is something above the ordinary? After all, creativity has no barriers."
