i think its a natural progression but definitely has its negative side... actors/producers who "crossover" may not spend as much time in the industry they originated from. it would be interesting to see how a well crafted film can be created with the two industries after they get past the tired topic of a guy and girl from different cultures fall in love, families are opposed, etc, etc....

Its neat in a way cuz there will be a certain degree of exposure, freshness and enhancement in technicality. Its more of a hybrid or rather syncronisation of different worlds and talent. Movies like Ghandi sheds the required needs.
However in recent times, the term cross over seemed to be abused. In the pretence of crossover, movie makers are also thinking of ways to bring in inbound revenues. I guess they get soo tied up with the profit margin and with the need to hike above the equilibrium hance resulting to fall flat movies. Movies which lacks flavour.
They get so worried as to will the west appreaciate such scenes or will the Indians be able to digest this very scene? Shud we get better cameraman or the most bankable star? All these are indeed marketing but never talent.
They shud just stick to originality and be more creative. Try not to make stereotype movies just like what AshWhat said. And maybe do away with songs...a good background score suffices.
So yes cross over is indeed good but of course with a well crafted plot. Enough of Bride and Prejudice and tho am yet to watch Mistress of Spice...I have a gut feeling that I will not enjoy it.

I'm ok with cross over but I dun want movies where Indian guy meets non- Indian gurl or otherwise, parental objection or they get married and face probs where culture clashes.

its good but then movie makers can easily get side tracked and with profit as their main intention it can result to lousy movies.
I can accomodate Payal Bachake but no balle balle, dola dola and show me the way, take me to love.
