I am tired of hearing about manchester united and who they are going to sign. No one wants to go there- Riguelme,Ribery,Torres, diarra, essein, obi mikel, robben..... should i keep going. It is so pathetic that th had to spen $34 million dollars on Michael Carrick. C.Ronaldo wants out, rooney is a great player but hopefully man utd has a great anger management staff. They treat there players like crap....RUUD, The teams leading goal scorer can't get in a game and now he is gone and they think just Rooney and Saha with a old solsjaer and and super young Rossi are good enough. With Carrick, a decent player, with Oshea(a center back), Giggs(a 35 year old left wing) and a old scholes and fletcher(a scotland international)all in the heart off the midfield. please manchester is overated and i am tired of all the news headlines and hype being about them. They are a uefa cup team and no better.

With the present situation at Old trafford I pose this question how much wiil Fergie cost Inited some school of thought say Fergie should only be accorded with 40% of the blame but I pose this a top notch business for e.g HSBC has a C.E.O that takes over 20yrs ago and makes huge profits for the company then 17yrs as ceo he starts goin senile and losses the company money and they start declining WONT HIS BUT BE KICKED OUT? So i think Fergie desverves 80% of the blame wat do ya think?

Abramovich lured me - Shevchenko

Abramovich lured me - Shevchenko

New Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko says the perseverence of Blues' owner Roman Abramovich was behind his £30m move from AC Milan this summer.
Shevchenko, 29, claims Abramovich tried to sign him for three years before he eventually joined in May.

"Because of his persistence and as my life situation changed I decided the time was right," the Ukraine star said.

"It meant a lot to me that Chelsea have wanted me for the past three years and that is the reason I chose them."

Shevchenko's family were another factor in his decision.

His American wife Kristen is expecting another baby and they already have a 20-month old son, Jordan.

Shevchenko added: "When Roman first approached me I told him I was happy at Milan. I had a good career, but now I have a child and my wife has another child on the way.

"I talked very closely with my wife about this. It is family motivation but it had to be the right club."

But the Ukraine striker insists his relationship with Abramovich will not give him any preferential treatment at Chelsea.

"I don't want to use the friendship because that's such a strong word," Shevchenko said.

"He is the owner of the club so you must always maintain a professional attitude.

"He asked did I want to come and play for his club but I've never had dinner with Mr Abramovich and our wives have never had dinner together. It's a professional relationship and it's always been one.

"That will continue. Who knows what the future holds? But I don't believe I am going to suddenly start having dinner with the owner.

"I find these things odd because we have never socialised before and never been socially friends.

"My personal and private life will always remain personal and private.

"I have told you the truth about the relationship so I don't see any issues."

Sheva: Chelsea pursued me for three years

Andriy Shevchenko claims the persistence of Roman Abramovich and the approval of his wife were behind his decision to swap AC Milan for Chelsea.

The Ukraine striker became British football's costliest signing when he completed a £30million move this summer.

Shevchenko revealed for three years the Russian billionaire owner of Chelsea had tried and failed to persuade him to join him.

But having spoken to his American wife Kristen, who is expecting another baby, and seeing their son Jordan reach 20 months, he decided the time was right to give in to Abramovich's advances.

Shevchenko said: 'Because of his persistence and as my life situation changed I decided the time was right.

'For the past three years the signals I have got are that Chelsea wanted me to play for them.

'I talked very closely with my wife about this.

'I have a boy and another child on the way and this was a decision we took together.

'When Roman Abramovich first approached me about coming to Chelsea I always found him welcome and happy there at Milan.

'Chelsea have been consistently wanting me for the past three years and that is something that meant a lot.

'I wanted to go somewhere that I felt I would be welcome.'

But the 29-year-old denies he and his wife have a special relationship with Abramovich.

There were suggestions that Shevchenko was a signing of the Russian oil tycoon, and not manager Jose Mourinho.

But Shevchenko added: 'I don't want to use the friendship because that's such a strong word.

'He is the owner of the club so you must always maintain a professional attitude.

'He asked did I want to come and play for his club but I've never had dinner with Mr Abramovich and our wives have never had dinner together. It's a professional relationship and it's always been one.

'That will continue. Who knows what the future holds? But I don't believe I am going to suddenly start having dinner with the owner.

'I find these things odd because we have never socialised before and never been socially friends.

'My personal and private life will always remain personal and private.

'I have told you the truth about the relationship so I don't see any issues.'

Ferguson gambles on Rossi to fill Ruud void

Ferguson gambles on Rossi to fill Ruud void

Sir Alex Ferguson's summer spending spree has begun but the Manchester United manager's search for new talent does not appear to extend as far as buying a replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Providing there are no unforeseen hitches, Michael Carrick will complete his move to Old Trafford from Tottenham on Monday.

Less than three weeks before the Red Devils open their latest assault on the Premiership title against Fulham, Carrick's arrival represents Ferguson's first signing of the close season.

The United boss has suggested the deal will not be his last. Yet, even though the loss of Van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid appears to leave a massive void in his striking department, Ferguson has expressed a willingness to allow rising star Giuseppe Rossi the first opportunity to fill it.

'We want to see Giuseppe progress as a centre-forward and it is looking more likely he will stay with us now,' said Ferguson, who has rejected claims he is about to make a move for Jermain Defoe.

The United boss has already confirmed his intention to offer more support to Louis Saha and Wayne Rooney by pushing Alan Smith into a more advanced position this term.

For all Rossi's undoubted promise, Red Devils supporters might be alarmed at the responsibility Ferguson is seemingly happy to place on the teenager's shoulders.

However, the Scot clearly feels strengthening his midfield is now a priority.

And, although Carrick's signing is almost complete, he still has a few other options available.

'We have targeted several players but in my experience, these things take time,' he said.

'We are not going to be stupid and just pay the price other clubs want.

'You have to negotiate and sometimes, you have to be patient.'

Having made a £10million bid for Carrick before the World Cup, Ferguson had long ago placed the 25-year-old at the top of his hit-list.

The Wallsend-born player should make his first United appearance in next weekend's Amsterdam tournament, probably against Porto on Friday.

Although much has been made of United's dwindling attractiveness, the move, once the final transfer figure is made public, is likely to be at least the third, and possibly the second-biggest deal of the summer, trailing only the £29million Chelsea paid AC Milan for Andriy Shevchenko.

And, while the move has been touted for some time, it comes as a blow to Spurs boss Martin Jol, who was determined to keep Carrick, only to have the offer of an increased contract rejected.

'This is a move that Michael wants to make,' said Jol.

'We have given him every reason to stay, but he has asked to be allowed to leave.'

Man United lose after Van Nistelrooy departure
Preston 2-1 Man United

The spectre of Ruud van Nistelrooy hung over Deepdale as Preston wrapped up their pre-season programme with a deserved win over Manchester United.

A sizeable visiting contingent sang the Dutchman's name at regular intervals, saluting Van Nistelrooy's 150-goal contribution to the Red Devils' cause in five years at the club.

Van Nistelrooy made a point of acknowledging the support he received from the United fans when he completed his move to Real Madrid on Friday and there are clearly plenty of supporters with reservations over the decision to release the striker.

Ten years exactly since his arrival at Old Trafford from Molde, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was able to mark his decade of service with a goal, firing home from the spot after Darren Fletcher had been felled by Alan McCormack.

Unfortunately for the visitors, with Solskjaer hitting the bar in stoppage time, the goal could not stave off defeat, although with hardly any of his senior stars on show, Sir Alex Ferguson was probably not that concerned at the result.

Given the youthful nature of United's squad, it was somewhat ironic a former Red Devils trainee should put Preston in front.

Danny Pugh has spent two mixed years at Leeds since he left Old Trafford but, set up by David Nugent, the full-back-turned-midfielder rasped home a powerful shot which would have meant far more than just a friendly goal.

Having performed so well at Celtic on Wednesday, United's youngsters this time found themselves on the back foot against a Preston side who have designs on a second successive play-off appearance under new coach Paul Simpson.

With Nugent and Danny Dichio up front, they gave the Red Devils rookie central defensive partnership of Jonny Evans and Paul McShane a torrid time.

Carlo Nash did make a couple of decent saves to deny Kieran Richardson and Liam Miller, the two full internationals in United's starting line-up. But largely it was a case of the visitors fire-fighting to ensure they did not fall further adrift.

Preston's second eventually arrived just before the hour mark, with Pugh this time the provider, springing United's poorly policed offside trap before squaring to Simon Whaley, who tapped into an empty net.

Whaley's effort provided Preston with a cushion to resist United's attempted fightback once Solskjaer rifled home six minutes from time.

However, both sides suffered injury concerns in the second half, with United full-back Phil Bardsley was the first to go down, limping off with what appeared to be an ankle problem.

At least Bardsley was able to make his own way to the touchline, unlike Preston's French defender Youl Mawene, who had to be carried off on a stretcher after failing to get to his feet after trying to make a tackle just inside his own half.

Senna near to United move

MADRID, Spain (AP) - Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna is close to joining Manchester United for a fee of about €10 million (US$12.75 million), news reports said Saturday.

The Brazilian-born Senna, a 30-year-old who appeared for Spain in the World Cup after obtaining dual citizenship earlier this year, is said to have agreed personal terms with United.

Senna, who played against United in last season's Champions League, has helped Villarreal improve since arriving from Brazil's Sao Caetano in 2002.

United manager Alex Ferguson is looking to strengthen his side's midfield for next season and has already signed England international Michael Carrick from Tottenham.

The English club this week raised a reported €15 million (US$19 million) from the sale of Ruud van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid.
