The first Test at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai had a bad start because of rain, but the overall situation for Sourav and Laxman is no bright either. Both of them are under intense pressure, thrown out from the ODI squad lately, and constantly targeted by India cricket team coach, captain, team selector and what not. The rain soaked pitch is not the best arena to perform, but even then, Sourav and Laxman each scored only 5 runs, and Sourav gave 16 runs in 2 overs, all these scores will certainly not brighten their future.

Indian cricket never ceases to amaze the common man. To further the point, that Indian cricket has survived as successfully as it has despite the kind of outlandish thinking we have come to witness is a remarkable feat in itself. To include it in a “Ripley’s Believe It or Not†episode would perhaps be a hyperbole, but nevertheless there is much to ponder for even the most simplistic of minds.

Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly is leaving no stone unturned to get a birth in the Indian cricket team for the three-Test series against Sri Lanka, starting on December 2, 2005. A confident Sourav speaks out his mind,†I expect to be in the team, after performing for your country for 10 years, you expect to be in the team, the rest is up to the selectors. I am looking forward to play as there is still a lot of cricket left in meâ€Â.
