The Indian cricket team arrived in Sri Lanka to play a three nation limited-over series, after completing what is called a “top secret” military training session.

Rahul Dravid’s Team India will start their Group-B World Cup 2007 campaign in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies, against Bangladesh on March 17. This will be followed by their second match of the tournament against minnows Bermuda on March 19. Team Indian will then face Sri Lanka in their last group encounter on March 23.

Dismissing the theory as “myth'’, Sourav Ganguly said that his handling of Shoaib Akhtar during the Karachi Test against Pakistan should prove that he was not susceptible to genuine pace and it should stand him in good stead for India’s future matches. A confident Sourav beamed, “Yes, I am definitely keen to get back to colored clothing. With all the runs behind me in one-day cricket, I’m looking forward to playing the World Cup as well.'’

India has moved down to 3rd position from its 2nd position in the LG ICC Test Championship ranking , a consequence to the Pakistan’s series win over India, while Pakistan stay in the fourth place . Australia is in the first position followed by England in the second position.

India now ranks 4th in the ICC Cricket ranking behind Australia, South Africa and Pakistan. The recently concluded drawn up one-day series have enough reasons to put India into the 4 th place. Only teams in the top six till April 1, 2006 will automatically be eligible for the second stage of ICC championship trophy to be held in India in 2006. |
