With 2007 well behind us it is time now to analyse how our movies performed. Shah Rukh Khan takes the lead

About a week before Diwali, I had an argument with my boss. His line of reasoning- a man who’s made movies like Black and Devdas ought to know his business. Apparently not! The box office has announced its verdict. On Shanti Om has made 7+ crores in its first week in Mumbai alone, while Saawariya, which promised eternity to begin with, is now a slowly fading blur on the horizon.

Shah Rukh Khan is back, soon after Chak De India’s tremendous success. This time it is in close friend, Farah Khan’s second venture as a director—Om Shanti Om, a tale based on love and reincarnation. The film also introduces Deepika Padukone, a model-turned-actress. Deepika is the daughter of yesteryear’s Badminton champ, Prakash Padukone.

Its that time of the year again. Festive season is here. Dussehra, Diwali, Eid and Bollywood is ready to cash in. Diawali this year will see Farah Khan ’s Shahrukh Khan starrer Om Shanti Om with Sanjay Leela Bansali ’s Sawaariya. And this week its again a clash between two big movies.

“Ta Ra Rum Pum”, Yash Raj Films’ first release of the year, coming out next week, is about a man, his family and how they overcome the obstacles that life puts in their way.

Mumbai, Feb 17 : Shahrukh Khan really created a wonderful Valentine’s Day on the newly launched Kaun Banega Crorepati, and now he is planning the same for the ‘Holi’. It is said that he will host the show on ‘holi’ with two sexy ladies on the hot-seat, Rani Mukherji and Preity Zinta.

After his mind blowing performance in ” Baabul “, John Abraham would like to play more roles as the ‘ Rajat ‘ in the film. John admits, ” I was under pressure, but, it all came from within me. I have done something I had never done before. Mr Ravi Chopra has showed great faith in me by casting me in Baabul “.

When you have everything going for you, including a top star-cast and a powerful socially relevant theme, it isn’t easy to mess things up. But “Baabul” does exactly that.
