Bollywood stars to aid Mira Nair in spreading AIDS awareness

Acclaimed director Mira Nair has announced that she is putting together four short fictional films dealing with AIDS with the help of Bollywood stars. United Nations has recently revealed that India has the largest number of AIDS patients and Mira plans to do something about it !!!

The four short films will be 12 mins long and will be shown before full length feature films to spread awareness about the disease. Bollywood stars have in the past helped in such causes and with a director like Mira Nair, we are sure big Bollywood stars will again come forward. “We are signing top stars,'’ Nair, the plan is to make the short films “as entertaining as a commercial movie itself.'’

In the past in the movie “Phir Milenge” Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Abhishek Bachchan had come together in a big way and the movie was one of the first big mainstream commercial movie with big stars to deal with AIDS and spread the message. “My Brother Nikhil” with Juhi Chawla also touched the subject.

However the movie “Phir Milenge” did not do well at the box office and so small short films on similar subjects are the best way to attack such issues. “People in India are still apathetic to this subject but it’s slowly improving” Shilpa Shetty had to say.
