Sania Mirza storms into 2nd round of Istanbul Open
Sania Mirza returned to court with an easy win over opponent Ipek Senoglu. The 5th seed Sania completely dominated her home wild card opponent to register scores of 6-3, 6-1.
Mirza, who last played in the Fed Cup, was out of the circuit for three weeks with multiple injuries. She is playing in the US $200,000 WTA Tour event in Istanbul, Turkey to get some match practice before the French Open, starting May 28.
The 19 year old Hyderabadi is placed at the bottom of the top half of the draw which features top seed Anastasia Myskina.
Sania Mirza, who slipped to 38 in the WTA rankings last week, will be hoping to keep the momentum going when she faces Michaela Krajicek of Netherlands in the next round.
