i agree rajesh!!!!!..Ash has looked perfect every year!!! it is impossible for that woman to look bad..even if she tried…and like you siad luke Ash could wear a sack and still look drop dead gorgeous!!!!…that woman is utterly flawless and perfect!
besides Ash has worn indian clothes to cannes before….in 2002, 2003…and she wore a saree to the time dinner in new york when she was named as one on the most influential people…..
everyone knows Ash represnts india whereever she goes and she doesnt need to always wear indian wear to do so!!!!
and yeah dont you dare say anything bad about Ash!!!!!!!!!

well… If Aishwarya wasn’t Indian, she couldn’t off been noticed in first place…. so i don’t know what u all talking about

when you are representing a country or a movie from a country you should atleat stick to your culture and roots… and it is so funny that Ash said tht she is so religious in one of the shows in USA and how she is the first one to grab armani…. how idotic that is…….
Ash and Priety were there to represent and INDIAN Movie so, they should go with Indian Outfit….
it doesn’t matter how much prestigious the event is… our Saris are famous amongst Westerns… and I have seen cannes from the past many White Actresses have donned Saris at Oscars, Golden Globes, and Emmy Awards… so why are our actresses shy of wearing Saris.. i don’t understand…

Shoba De is a very critical person in her comments. I remember she calling Ash the most horrible dresser in Inda in Koffee with Karan show. She says she just speaks her heart out. She is nothing but an envious, unprofessional silly old woman who has nothing better to do! She just comments and comments negative things about Aishwarya and now Preity. Shoba De, if you are reading this column, TAKE A HIKE! or take up some other hobby or just sit at home and keep looking at the mirror! You will see A DUD yourself. As indians, we must support our actors when they are on an International Platform! Come on, they can’t keep wearing sarees all the time! Mallika Sherawat wore a revealing skin indian outfit last year at Cannes….nobody seems to be interested in commenting…That was degrading an indian costume….Ash and Preity were great. They are both beautiful and an epitome of grace! Support them, don’t mock them…Its very sad to note that most of these people who condemn Aishwarya are from her own motherland. Shame on all of you..! Especially Shoba De!

I respect Shobhaa for her concerns for Indian women wearning ethnic dressing. Still I feel that this world is driver by personal interest and their own style statements. If these pretty ladies are comfortable with the western or any type od dress, i dont see a problem at all.
If anybody wants to make India shine or for that matter any country, it is through their actions - contributing to the society, making the global economy grow etc.
I think these trivial issues and should be ignored.
