MS Dhoni one down, Irfan Pathan one up in the LG ICC Ranking

Mahender Shing Dhoni , the rising cricket star of India, who was the top batsman of the word, now moved down to second position in the LG ICC ODI Batting Rankings, published on 28th April 2006 (After Bangladesh v Australia series). Dhoni has got 806 points where as Adam Gilchrist has moved to first position with 809 points. In the last ICC ranking where Dhoni was in the first position, he was the second Indian player after Sachin Tendulkar to take the top spot in the one-day rankings.

Dhoni, who was second behind Ponting before the two ODIs in Abu Dhabi, is one of three Indian batsmen in the top 10, Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh are the other two. The Jharkhanad wicketkeeper has numerous records to his name. His average of 219 in the recent one-day internationals in Pakistan is the highest by a wicketkeeper in a one-day series. Perhaps his biggest feat is that he’s maintained an average of 52.76 with a strike rate of 100. He is the only batsman amongst current players to have managed that consistently.
He’s the fastest to score 1,000 runs, a feat he achieved in just 33 matches. His score of 183 against Sri Lanka is also the highest by a wicketkeeper in ODIs.

Irfan Pathan is now in the second position in the LG ICC ODI Bowling Rankings, published on 28th April 2006 (After Bangladesh v Australia series). Pathan has moved up one position and his point is 765 only next to Shaun Pollock with 858 points. Harbhajan Singh is in the tenth position with 690 points with no loss no gain with respect to last ranking.
