Bollywood: Udit Narayan A Bigamist???

Famous Bollywood singer Udit Narayan was subjected to humiliation and embarrassment when a woman, who claimed to be the first wife of Udit Narayan, created a scene at the Maurya Hotel in Patna on Friday.

Reportedly the lady whose name was Ranjana forced her way to the hotel room in which Udit Narayan was staying with his wife Deepa Narayan and son Aditya. Ranjana kept knocking on the door of room 401, where the singer was staying but Udit Narayan chose not to open the door.

She claimed she had married Udit Narayan in 1984 when he was not a celebrity. Ranjana is reported to have said, “I have come here to seek justice. He kept me in the dark about his second marriage with Deepa for years and now I have come to seek my rightful place.”
Ranjana, a resident of Supaul distict in Bihar, had photographs which she claimed showed Udit with her. When asked why she had raised the issue now, Ranjana said: “Whenever I threatened to go public about our marriage, he silenced me by threatening suicide. Now I have no fears and I will take legal recourse,” and then added “Look, the man has no courage to come out and speak to me.”

Ranjana further asserted that she is Udit’s legal wife and their marriage was solemnised as per Hindu rituals. She apparently came to know about her husband’s relations with Deepa four or five years ago. Ranjana said she would file a police complaint against Udit Narayan and move court for deserting her and living with another woman. “First, I will meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in a day or two to apprise him about my case and request him to help me get justice,” she said.
Udit Narayan denied the woman’s allegations and dismissed them as ’slanderous’. “I don’t know this woman and I have never met her before. These are attempts to malign me,” he reportedly told PTI-Bhasha on phone. According to Media reports, Udit Narayan maintained that it was another attempt to blackmail him. “I had got threatening calls four-five years ago but I did not pay heed. I was under the impression that this was common occurrence with artistes,” he said.

Udit Narayan was in Patna to attend the marriage of his niece but he would supposedly lodge a report with police after consulting his lawyers in Mumbai. Udit and Deepa were confined in the hotel room for a few hours till the police arrived to escort them out Friday. According to Media reports, Deepa, when asked by media persons about the allegations of the former wife, got irritated and her private security guards and a few relatives shouted at the media persons and even attacked them. Media persons got offended and reportedly demanded action against the brother and security guards of Deepa.
