18th Commonwealth Games Closing Sees India and Bollywood At its Best
India’s capital, New Delhi, will be hosting the 19th Commonwealth Games - the world’s second largest sporting event after the Olympics - in 2010. Bollywood stars, singers and sportspersons like Sunil Gavaskar, Milkha Singh and Kapil Dev collectively showcased India’s diverse culture and rich heritage during the closing ceremony of the 18th Commonwealth Games.

According to PTI reports, the closing ceremony lasted two hours of which the Bollywood segment lasted 11 minutes. But that was sufficient enough to leave the thousands spellbound who gathered there.Out of this limited span, only three minutes were given to Shreya Ghosal, Shiamak Davar, Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam to do the song “Dillli chaloâ€ÂÂ…
Then,with a noticeable shift in the rhythm Aishwarya Rai made a brief two minute long dazzling appearance before leaving the stage to Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee who performed a bhangra number.
“With dancers with petals forming a rose, Aishwarya Rai appeared performing a dance and golden rays unfurled all around the stage to represent the sun and monuments of India and Delhi were projected on to the main stage. The traditionally-attired Indian dancers then made formations to spell out the words ‘See you. Delhi 2010′,” reported a leading newspaper.
The music-loving Australians were enthralled, by the performance of the Indians. “It was unbelievable,†said star-singer Sonu Nigam. Australian newspapers and TV channels reportedly rated India’s finale performance as the best.

I was part of the indian segment in the closing ceremony, and i absolutely loved the expereince, i was so thrilled when i got out there. i was part of the sun rays on each side of the stage, and it was fantasic. i really felt proud to be an indian, and im looking very forward to the delhi 2010 games!!! INDIA ROCKS!!

omg!!!! Ash’s performance rocked!!!!!…it was out of this world just like Ash!!!!…it was the best performance of the night and she seriously was the center of attention….she danced sooo elegant and graceful as she always does…..that woman has so much poise and grace!!!!!
she is the best!!!!

ash’s performance was rocking! what grace, what elegance! saif ali khan looked stiff but the songs were too good to be spoilt by one bad performer. i think people will really look forward to visiting delhi in 2010. i hope they do their best here too!

Watching the Commonwealth Gamed really bought about great hope and support for not only the indian competitors, but all countries competitors.
The closing ceremony was sensational with India showing what we are made of.
The participation of our top actors and actresses, singers and performers, this bought about great anticipation and more viewers from the indian communities all arond the world. Also allowing other viewers to make their judgement on our performance and have a taste of what India has to offer for the Commonwealth Games 2010.
It was a great event for the evening and I hope India all the best for 2010.

omg Ash’s performance rocked!!!!….hers was the best performance of the night which came at no surprise considering it is Aishwarya Rai….the one and only!!!!!!……she was the center of attention!!!!!…..everyone was anxious for her performance she delivered beyond expectations!!!! she really is the best dancer and performer there is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
everything else compared to her is sooo mediocre….she is above everything and everyone!!!!!!!….whether it be in beauty….talent or grace!!!!
