Aamir Khan and ‘Rang De Basanti’ a Super Hit

Update: Aamir Khan and Rang De Basanti gets the much deserved SuperHit status. ‘Rang De Basanti’ is being branded as the first Bollywood hit movie of 2006. In this movie Aamir is not the cental and dominating character but plays along as one of the primary characters !! Any other Bollywood star would have asked for more share of the screen time !!

Unlike Aamir Khan’s much hyped Mangal Pandey, Rang De Basanti presents history in a new flavour… a nicely blended movie which appealed to todays youth and achieved that this movie was targetting. Smart move and well deserved Super Hit status !!!

The news is out that Roshan was the first choice for the role and all possible pressure was brought upon him to persuade him to accept the film. But Hrithik actually did turn down the venture directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Sources claim that Hrithik wanted a bigger role and so he refused to do the film. But Hrithik’s father Rakesh Roshan clarifies, ” It was nothing to do with the length of the role. Yes, Hrithik was approached to play a role in Rang De Basanti, but those dates were clashing with Krrish, so he couldn’t do the role.”

Hrithik Roshan himself has two hugely awaited films ‘Krrish,’ ‘Dhoom 2′ to be released this year. However Hrithik’s refusal to the role had offered Siddharth the rare opportunity to showcase his acting prowess in his very first Hindi film.
