Bollywood: Desi Animation reloaded in ‘Bhaggmati’ followed by ‘Hum Tum’
‘Bhaggmati’- The queen of fortunes’ produced by Zee Telefilms Limited is all set to release in Bollywood with expectations rocketing sky high this August 26th. It’s a 2D animation film with living characters in it where the live characters represent the present and the past is played by the animated characters.

The Bollywood stars you will come across are Tabu, Milind Suman and a glimpse of Hema Malini as a guest. The film is written and directed by National Award Winner Ashok Kaul. Vishal Bhardwaj has composed the music and the voices in the tunes are furnished by Asha Bhonsle, Sadhna Sargam, Suresh Wadekar, and Roop Kumar Rathod.
Bhaggmati is based on the love story of Prince Quli Shah of Golconda and a local dancer Bhaggmati. Tabu plays the role of a student of Archaeology who visits Golconda fort to undertake research on the lives of Qutab Quli Shah and Bhaggmati.
In course of her stay there she meets Soman, who is a descendent of the Qutab Shahi dynasty and the story flows from there. The total duration of the film is two hours and 40 minutes. The animated portion of the film is of one hour and 35 minutes duration, which is the longest in the world till date.
“The film has been made entirely with the help of Indian technology and expertise. The fact that 110 people worked tirelessly for over three years without any international technology is the USP of Bhaggmati” quotes Ashish Kaul, vice president (brand development) of Essel Group that owns Zee Telefilms. Are the Indian audiences ready for a good blend of animation into real life characters as the producers and directors are and will ‘Bhaggmati’ be really lucky in setting a trend of quality animation in bollywood?
